  2. Use a meter from Halford. No Your engine will be stopped. Yes No Insulation blanked over the engine if your that worried.
  3. Take only dead trees that are standing, the woods dry and easier to cut/chop, and Ash burns fierce..
  4. So testing a battery (with a hydro) within a few hours of being charged is a no no? Can anything be gained from such readings ?

  6. Ear Plugs, you need ear plugs and eye patches...Told you so..
  7. Alternative would be Rolls Batteries. I use 4 x6 volt to give 24v. Rolls Series 4000 S-600 6 volt. 450amps @ 20 hour rate. Been using them for over a year, no measurable change in SG, performance, etc.

  15. And that's why the "private hirers" are doing well. I know of three narrowboats that "hire" to selected family members and friends and friends of friends.. I also know they do not have a commercial licence.. ..

I don't really know...but what I do know is, that just before I retuned to Italy, moored opposite me on the Lancaster was ( & possible still is !!) a BW workboat, it took three "Lengthsmen" 3 days to load the boat with wooden stakes and planks. They then set off to "repair" the bank side a little further down the canal. On passing, their work boat was adrift and partially blocking the canal, the "repairs were incomplete and they had managed to repair up to a clump of weeds bypasing them and continuing thereafter.. So I guess at least three that not only are superfluous, but also (apparently) useless..

  22. Your right, people can bearly hear when I pass, but if anyone try to call or talk to me from the towpath, I can't hear a damn thing for the engine noise coming from the ER.
