  2. You'll normally find the Beta engine's calorifier take off and return bypass the original thermostat... they certinally do on the 1305 &1505 and the 50hp. Steve
  3. How big is you skin tank and or Calorifer loops? Do you have any form of restriction into the hot water tank or can the water free flow through it? If not you may want to put a ball valve on the inlet side of the engine to calorifer to sreduce the amount of heat thats being dumped into it. hope this helps or gives you something to have a think on. Sven

  5. Hey All, A friend of mine works over at Wrenbury Mill on the Llangollen and has told me their doing a 75% off scheme on their lift outs for blacking etc. Their 57ft boat worked out at £62.50 for the lift and £399 for the blacking, £461.50 in total....seems pretty good to me! Steve
  6. Many Thanks David and Julie!!!! That's more like it. Think i didn't make myself clear enough...... I am after somewhere that sells abandoned projects or older boats that need gutting and starting gain internally like boatwrecks.com theboatsheduk etc. Might have a goosey at the 70footer......
  7. *Copied from another post* I've been to a quite a few brokerages in the last few months looking for a 'project' boat ie needs a internal refit and a darm good lick of paint, but what i've found is scrappers for upwards of £25000 that you can see the rain running down the inside of the walls as fast as it is outside and woodwork that is softer than my granny's victoria sponge! Is there such a place that sells older hulls in a sailaway form? ( as i dont have £19k plus for a new one) Sven

  11. As an Engineer this makes interesting reading.......... has anyone here taken an engine that has been thrashed from cold or left ticking over to 'warm up' apart and seen what it does to the movey up and downy roundy roundy bits? (pistons with the load face scratched to hell, goosed rings, big ends and mains with little or no white metal etc etc and not forgetting exhaust valves and stems choked in carbon. Best advice is to go from cold keep to mid revs and don't labour the engine (i.e make it work unnessicarly (*sp) hard). Have fun......... Untill you need a rebuild. Sven
