  3. yes sad to say, am in the process of selling Marmaduke. I will miss him very much, in the two and a half years I have owned him I've had a blast even if it was just for the odd weekend and extended few weeks holiday....but the back injury has put paid to any more owning a canal boat, but I will keep in touch and pop in and make stupid remarks and sit back and take the flack like a man.....and the plan is [if I can get a crew together ] I will rent a boat [river or canal] and have the odd holiday..... take care and dont fall in...till the water warms up a bit
  4. thank you kind sir's, I will pass the information onto him
  5. help please. A freind of mine [without Internet], asked me the best way to get a 57 foot narrowboat boat down from Stourport to London, he wants to sail it down even tho the knows about the Grand union being closed at Tring....whats the best way..apart from using a lorry
  6. have you thought of working out weather or not it might be just as easy/cheap/less stressful towards the lorry cost......it would take about 4 hours by road...just a thought. and the time you save could be spent on fitting out the boat
  7. The inverter will be repaired or replaced before Marmaduke is sold, and your right, the engine was replaced under warranty after just 600 hours. so the replacement engine has covered just under 600 hours. Take a look at this thread and you will see why I am reluctantly selling Marmaduke. Like you I wanted to spend a few years living on a boat, but life has a nasty way of creeping up from behind...in my case,,from a motorbike accident. good luck with your search for a nice boat...it only took me 2 years to find Marmaduke....piece-of-piss http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=41771&view=findpost&p=759771&hl=%2Bmarmaduke+%2Bfor+%2Bsale&fromsearch=1
  8. shit...with a back wash like that it would realy piss off a few of the old farts around were I moor....I want one I want one
  9. I thought I would share this with you.. As some of you know I am selling [anyone interested pm me] my much loved canal boat..yesterday I took out a nice couple that were interested in buying it...while I was cruising along the grand Union canal at bulls bridge in Hayes , a lot of commotion was going on about 200 yard up the canal, as we approached an ambulance /paramedic chap stood on the edge of the tow path and flagged me down. i pulled over and threw the mooring rope to him and asked whats the problem, he asked me where I was going and if it would be OK to carry an elderly man who had collapsed while out walking with his friend and had injured himself falling down the embankment.. the ambulance was about half a mile down the tow path and they had already had trouble pushing the gurney stretcher type thing along in the mud and with a person on it too it would take for ever. so we loaded the man with his friend along with 2 medics on the back of Marmaduke and set of at twice the normal speed [6 miles per hour] I did ask if they could fit a couple of blue lights on the front just to get the other boaters out the way [the canal is deserted at this time of year] needless to say he was delivered save and sound and i'm sure he will make a full recovery
  10. Has anyone had or used one of these, if so are they any good, please. http://www.sunshinesolar.co.uk/khxc/gbu0-prodshow/VP3000.html?gclid=CMep95XWyKwCFUQe4QoduHhnrg thanks
  11. I have a Powermaster PM3000L 3kw Pure Sine Wave Inverter and a powermaster Battery Charger. I turned on the inverter and it made a clicking noise and started to bleep...the bleeping stopped after a few seconds and just the clicking continues. the inverter is working as I tested it by boiling a kettle....it's just that the clicking drives me mad. Has anyone got any ideas what it is, or should I get it taken out and bench tested? does anyone know of a firm that bench test/repairs inverters in the london area. thank terry PS I have been down to the boat and had a look-see,this is what happens I turn on the inverter, it buzzes then bleeps, a couple of seconds later the beeps stop, the green power light is on, then the overload light comes on.. help
