  3. Screwfix do one called silicone eater. Have used it a couple of times and it has done the trick for me when restoring bathrooms>
  4. Travelled down from Ebstree Lock just above Wombourne down to Stourton Junction and am currently moored at Stourbridge. The section from Botterham Locks to Stourton has been absolutely beautiful. Different to where you are, all trees and dappled sunshine, but wonderful nevertheless. Only wish my camera and laptop combined hadnt thrown one so I could post the photos. Early start up the Stourbridge flight and the Nine Locks to get to Brierley Hill for a concert tomorrow night. Only gripe.......cyclists......have never seen so many, travelling so fast. Wont wait for you to finish what you are doing at locks etc, even had one brush me out of the way with a shoulder charge type manouver,at Greensforge, whilst I was bringing Alice Rose to a halt with the centre rope. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. Cheers (yes I am opening another one) Don
  5. Thanks for your reply. I think I will have a look around there then. Cheers Don
  6. Hi all, I am leaving Great Haywood mid week (single handed for the first time)with the intention of being at Brierley Hill sometime on Sunday. Here friends from my local rugby club are joining me to see the tribute band Ultimate Madness at the Thorns Inn and staying on the boat overnight. We have spoken to the landlady of the Thorns who informed us that there are safe moorings around the nine locks but is unsure exactly where . So I was wondering if any of you have ever moored overnight in this area and what experiences you had? Cheers Don PS Just a thought has anyone been to see Ultimate Madness?

  15. Plumbers merchants sell box spanners specifically for 1/2" and 3/4" back nuts which not only allow you to use a bar for leverage it also allows you to get an adjustable spanner if neccesary. Less than a fiver when I bought mine. When i come across this situation, most weeks, I work the nut backwards and forwards and eventually you will suceed. Heat on a ceramic basin? never. Good Luck Don

  17. Hi, I specialise in fully fitted bathrooms, wetrooms etc and I have found over the years that fitting cheap showers can generally be false economy, poor quality fittings, check valves and thermostatic cartridges that fail after a short time. You can go expensive, Grohe for example, buy in my opinion and experience bar mixer shower valves, as in the picture in the other post, in the £70.00 to £120.00 generally offer the best between value and reliability/performance. Screwfix sell two that i use regularly, one from Triton (on offer now at under £60.00) and another marketed as Swirl (two at £63.99 & £68.49). Others too in the £70 to £120 range. Also Wickes do a slimline high density foam tray 760 x 760 x 45 for just over £30.00, set on silicone or expanding foam, but weigh the tray down, evenly, if using foam. There are companies that offer a bespoke service for shower enclosures and doors. Not cheap but useful if height or roof shape is a problem, any plumbers merchant will be able to advise and get quotes for this service. Hope this is useful. Cheers Don

  22. Having been reading all the threads re electrics, batteries and charging etc ,and becoming really paranoid, I have noticed that my 600w pure sine wave inverter is wired direct with no fuse protecting it or the cable. I am only running a 22" lcd tv and chargers for laptop and mobile phone. What size and type of fuse or breaker would I need installed to give me peace of mind Do batteries talk about you behind your back? Cheers Don
  23. My objection submitted. Don
  24. Thanks for the input but they are all full jacket style life preservers. This is the sort of style i am looking for, this is obviosly just a padded harness not a life preserver. She is a good swimmer but it worries me, as most of my boating will be single handed, that she may well fall in without me knowing and this kind of thing will give me the opportunity to rescue her. I would rather a harness type because other people have told me how uncomfortable their dogs have been in a full jacket style. Will keep looking. Cheers don
