Ok! My elbows were black, but I did find said small holes! A good poke with a 2mm drill bit, takes a bit of effort, they are not easy to find! Cleaned up and lit it and Presto! a purple flame a Halloween Wizard would be proud of!!!!
Yip - these holes need to be cleaned out periodically, it must be two years since my Lockgate burned so cleanly!
Thanks everyone who posted on this!

Hi,
I had posted this under "boat handling" but the replies were not encouraging!
I am committed to finishing this boat with a canopy as it would just look daft.
It will have a wheelhouse with UPVC windows, but the top could be canvas or solid. There will also be a rear canvas type awning!
So the questions are, how often do you need to remove the wheel house to get under obtacles when cruising?
Apart from an inflatable wheel house,( I have considered this!) any other suggestions and or pictures of various designs?
Thanks for your help.
on narrow canals as soon as your ready for moving off, might not be to much trouble if your on rivers but there are plenty of low bridges, tunnels ,trees that will rip it straight off

"Is yours a refleks?"
Not sure if it is a 2000 or a 2062 ( http://www.lockgate-stoves.co.uk/products/...s/visibleflame/ ) but it is one of these two.

Dont have one myself but suggest you take it down whilst underway i have seen 2 boats that didnt,,,,the crunch and damage was i suspect expensive to repair

The wire catalyst sits with the hat at the top, the wire feet at the bottom, at least that is how it has been in mine since I got it. I scrape and hoover my stove out ever few months but it still burns orange on low settings.
And I cant find these mysterious holes either!
Is yours a refleks?
the holes are in a small recessed ring and almost impossible to see from above they have to be felt for

Sounds pretty similar to my stove. I've even rubbed around the burner pot with a bit of emery looking for these holes to no avail. The Lockgate instruction (as supplied to me by Denboy) clearly show where the lower holes are but on this model these holes are definately missing. I have wondered what would happen if I drilled a couple of holes on that lip!
doubt they are missing might be full of hard carbon scratch around with a bradol or something similar small and sharp 1/8 of an inch darning needle etc

wii golf and bowling? How will that work, then? My partner can't even brush his long luxuriant locks onboard without taking out half of the pictures. <intrigued>
A wide beam perhaps?

There is certainly a lot of muck in the water trap, so I'm going to clean that out as well as replacing the fuel filter,,
possibly your problem if the filters are blocked
also while your changing them, check the air filter if there is one fitted..
Also could it have been leaf fall?

A few years ago I got the survey forms 2 years on the trot I asked other boaters if they had got them and from the few I asked it was only me BWW had asked I felt special BUT I filled them in and added where I thought there were problems.
not had one for years now!
I havent had one since the first one came out,,Is it possible that if you do not fill them in to there advantage IE to make them look good that they then only send them the following year to those who tick the boxes the way they want them answered

Robin Evans announced it to the board in May 2008 -
Customer satisfaction will in future be tracked through the definitely score in a
propensity to recommend survey question. This is judged more relevant than overall
enjoyment or exceeding expectations as the majority of customers are regular and
frequent users of the waterways.
He even got the old measures half wrong. They were
Overall upkeep, boat owners
Overall upkeep, holiday boaters
Overall enjoyment at destinations
Overall enjoyment along towpaths
Overall enjoyment of anglers
Perhaps the customer satisfaction survey question should be a simple "are you satisfied with British Waterways stewardship of the system?" YES/NO/DON'T KNOW
They know the answer to that already so it will never be asked
