This country will be on lockdown I think in a few days time so if I was on my boat now I would be moving to somewhere that has facilities.

Operating locks and bridges would spread it.

I’ve just been talking to my brother again and asked who told him and it was a guy who works for canal and river trust and said he’s been told today in a meeting and told my brother to pick a decent spot as it’s getting lockdown. We shall see if it’s true or not.

I’m nowhere near my boat so wouldn’t bother me. I don’t believe it either so was just double checking on here. I can see them locking the system down at one point though.

My brother just called and has been told to stay where he is as you can’t move around by someone from canal and river trust.

Is the full system going on full lockdown? That’s what I’m just been told

Yes it’s this one half the price of my sterling one on my boat but seems to do everything that one does. I don’t want them on a boat it’s them that wanted a boat. I’m just trying to tell them the best options to get a boat. In the end they’re going back to property with potential hopefully. I’ve helped them on several properties over the years and I’ll help them on whatever venture they decide to do. Mums and dads eh ? I love em and probably re wired 5 properties up for them for nothing built loft conversions for nothing you wouldn’t believe the stuff I’ve done for them but I wouldn’t swap them.

Who knows they might want a boat tonight again. I think they’re buying a house with a separate ground floor flat for a little over £100k so they will have plenty of money left over. Just looks like I’ve got loads of unpaid work heading my way again ??

Anyway thanks for all the info and advice and I’ve been on here years and I didn’t expect anything than honest advice and criticism ? that’s why I love this place and would love to get my parents among us on the network. Ill tell you somethimg you don’t see stuff like you do on a street that you live on with community spirit than you do on waterways and that’s one reason I want them on it because I love it and they will. its hard work trying to convince them this is the right move to do and I think they’re coming round to thinking how I’m thinking as property at this time could be a bad idea at this time but if they did this right it could be perfect if they got the right boat that could have potential. still ongoing work with them but they have a big camper van to live in at the moment

I’ve told them to get a decent boat maybe a sail away at a decent standard for 60 - 70k and sit on the rest and see what happens after brexit with property and maybe re invest into property after what happens in the next few years. I think they have sold up at just the right time.

They wouldn’t be claiming UC after they get paid from this house. At the moment they’ve just finished fostering children and refugees and was on really good money but are debt free but don’t have a income now with very little savings as they just finished completing this last house. All I really wanted to know is can you travel the L&L on a 60ft widebeam and maybe some places I could buy a decent sail away if not.

I know building property is totally different as it’s a lot harder and you have to build the regulations etc. Like I’ve said I’ve fitted boats out. I’ve just insured my narrow boat for £90 a year and pay £90 I think for my license. I just try move it around every 2 weeks and been doing that for years

I’m a highly skilled joiner and sparky and I’m very capable of fitting a boat out to a very high standard and I know boats can have hidden charges but I’ve not seen this in the times I’ve had mine for 9 years. I’m talking a brand new boat with everything new.
