  1. Bittern was indeed ex FMC Lion. It caught fire when still working as a hire/camper for Willow Wren and then was sold to Alan (New Zealander) who took it to Aylesbury after purchasing it from Willow Wren.
  2. Thats a bit steep for a fiberglass covered wood cabin!
  3. Link is Canada that's because where I am located. I think that ebay adjusted the geo location to where I was when on ebay! Sorry to cause problems :-)

  6. I have delved into my old photo box and found these of Dorado I took in the late 90's at Stockton..
  7. I did hear this and it is very sad news. I was actually sleeping one day when he popped into my engine room to check some info once at Braunston. Memory was quite amazing and as Pete says he was always right!
  8. You can see here on before and after pics of Admirals restoration l the same arrangement. http://www.pixeladventures.com/boats/ad2.jpg http://www.pixeladventures.com/boats/ad1.jpg

  11. When you see comments on FB like this it does make you wonder about the canal's future. "So the way I see things .. The c&rt want totally rid of cc'ers... So just leaving hire boats stag wkenders and stuck up permanent mooring people in there 50s and 60s.. Nasty"
  12. I have also followed this topic for a long time. I was under the impression that Hillingdon council actually owned the land therefore what was in/on/under it! Has there actually been any discovery done at the site (divers etc.) to assess the state of the boats and if they would come up in one piece? Is there one boat that would come up easier than others? Raising one would make news for certain. I certainly see enough people on here would be willing to help with time and some with money maybe something could be made to happen with the help of local council's and CRT? The CWDF trust?
  13. Looks new on the duck http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/display.phtml?aid=468967
  14. I bought the pod from the owners of Kestrel after the Currell's and put it in Owl and lived in it for a year..Was a bit narrow though. Then sold it to the owner of Owl.
  15. I think that there is a belt between the engine and the gearbox. I looked in the engine room at one time and it seemed the shaft from the engine was at a different height/angle to the gearbox shaft and they had been connected together by a belt thingy...
  16. Is this the boat that has the strange drive mechanism? I remember a few years back boating (and I thought it was this boat) and it had a belt drive system which seemed highly dubious in reverse. Nice bit of history though...
  17. I must admit that one was a strange ebay item.. Nice old look but anything more than 35 quid seems mad, maybe I am missing something with that can?
  18. I lived at Pitstone for a while and I am pretty sure it was Leam.. I have another photo of it somewhere..
  19. I used to know a guy in the mid 80's (pete) who owned a wooden motor called "Flower of Gloster" it was in a bad way and he cut the front of it and bolted a steel front on at Pitstone wharf. Don't know if this was the same boat but I found a couple of old photos.. I think the butty rotting in the background was the wooden boat Leam
