  1. Blue @ top Red @ bottom here but I've seen other variations
  2. Wonderful construction but not my cup of tea.......................I own a Woolwich not a Josher...................we were very up to date with electric lighting.............................
  3. The picture is dated as 1940's and I'm sure the colour scheme for the cans is wartime red blue and cream and this is as stated Bulls Bridge paint shop in it's Grand Union days............. Interestingly another well known manufacturers of cans, Bococks were better known for their range of brass masthead lamps and other sea going equipment............................
  4. Look @ all those cans..............all appear to be wire handled..................long before the Joseph Ash days of BW...........
  5. That is the Lancaster Northern reaches with Farleton Knott in the background......................................
  6. I haven't seen more than two pics. of 'white' tripping boats..Rambler and Sprite........so further investigation is needed... If the archives ever open again I'm intending spending a day there............looking for 'white' boats will now be one of the tasks.............................
  7. Bit of a mystery that. I think it may well be Water Sprite/Pisces and a converted butty......................Rambler and Sprite are the only 'tripping' boats to carry a white livery AFAIK.......................................
  8. Rambler...............................Black and white image............. Top bends now................properly........................reinstated..................................
  9. Thanks Ray. My interest actually lies with the two boats breasted up in the distance, one of which is Star, the other unknown.............
  10. Is this a BW image? I have a BW postcard with the two boats in the background, one of which is Star.................................
  11. And you would put that, thing in your cabin??.........................Really??
  12. Shocked, apalled but not surprised, nothing it seems is safe from the developers these days............................... The plans and reports are extensive it will take some time to get through all of them. The developers must have spent a fortune in having these prepared...............small beer I suppose in the overall development..............but the future restoration plans whilst not omitted are clearly being brushed aside by them. Having been involved in the restoration of Lock 1 and the basin along with many other volunteers I think I can speak for them all when I say I didn't give my time up for something like this to come along 15 years later.................
  13. Interesting photos, no wonder we struggled to get deeper boats up the extension..................... Pretty obvious too that the 'restoration' work at that particular point was a complete bodge job LCC you have clay on your hands!
  14. Just how much has that 'little' excercise cost I wonder? If the 'vandals' are reading this thread? They could quite easily put CaRT out of business over one smashing weekend down the Atherstone flight......................................
  15. They are working, just spoke to Simon (Wain) he's tried to return your call without success B Boats are having some cast.....who knows when that will be....so yes they can but no they can't, at the moment.
  16. There but for the grace of god goes the Dunton windlass.....................................................................
  17. I can say that this an excellent publication full of interesting facts and photos and in hard back too. Good value @ £25. Got my copy about 2 weeks ago and devoured it in 2 nights.........working my way sreadily through the rest of my canal book collection now
  18. The ad. says the cans date to the 1930s, have they been repainted or been hanging about for 40 years unpainted?!!! I have a can you can paint.................I'll meet you half way up the M6 at a safe distance of course maybe you on the Nortbound carriage and me on the Southbound.................there's plenty of room on there at the moment. ? Hope your keeping well Dave.
  19. Wey & Arun Devils Hole Lock.......I think..I could check my library but that would be cheating.... definitely W & A ....many happy hours spent working on that particular canal
  20. You are bored aren't you.................how many days to go now?? The thought of you and The Buzzcocks intrigues me aah but we were all younger then let's hope we all get a lot older................................. By the way the vid wouldn't play directly from your link, however I do have The Buzzcocks in my lengthy and varied lengthof artists on Itunes Get well soon.....
  21. Historical Map series No.2 Canals of Birmingham and the Black Country.............covers the lot all on one map.
