  1. I used to like you, sun crossword! I wouldn't wipe someone elses backside with that rag The rest is a remarkably accurate rendering of me

  4. That could be handy if you need an engineer I suppose

  7. Is it possible for a topic started to complain about topics going off topic to go off topic?
  8. Really? I am a tad supprised by this, it must have improved a great deal, my memory of vegan cheese was tasteless block of weirdly textured oddness with a supprisingly strong smell of sick
  9. My first ID books, a bit dated now but fond memories, that is a hell of a collection
  10. If thats the Fitter book, its a quality book but I think the Collins one is better and more accessible for the newby
  11. Try either https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=collins+wild+guide+flowers&tag=hydrukspg-21&index=stripbooks&hvadid=225268954206&hvpos=1t1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3671206723219020194&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006524&hvtargid=kwd-18767820606&ref=pd_sl_5r4i54undm_b https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/033025183X/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1511373217&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=roger+phillips&dpPl=1&dpID=71H2VYYRSTL&ref=plSrch
  12. Fitter is a very good book but personally find Rose more accessible and yes Roger Phillips are also quality and probably a better way in to plant ID than either Rose or Fitter. Good reference books are the best way, well apart from having a friendly botanist to guide you, I have never seen a app that I would trust completely.
  13. Plant id apps are generally pants, there is a resonable woodland trust tree id app but it still doesn't compare to a decent book. Never trust a id app if you're considering eating any foraged plant or fungi
  14. Whilst on holiday in Dorset I was wandering along a cliff top very early in the morning ( I am a early riser) and encountered a chap playing his bagpipes, no one else for bloody miles around. it was glorious, truly one of those moments in life that stay in the memory for ever, before that I never appreciated the instrument at all, still don't if I am honest but that one glorious moment
  15. Plenty of good books available, personally I would recommend the Collins guides, the tree one is a standard text for day to day use in my business. If your partner has a good grasp of basic botany I would strongly recommend the Francis Rose wild flower key.
  16. Boat? That bridge caused me no end of problems and ended up reducing the scope of the works because the contractor bottled out. A genuinely intresting place Sorry to take this off topic.
  17. Fasinating place, I was involved in organising some powerline clearance on the island a few years ago and as it "needed" some extra supervision I spent a good few hours poking around the dry dock, err supervising Good luck with the venture
  18. Intresting idea, which I might spend the winter exploring, but as my job is more pointing and almost none of the sweaty stuff not such a direct benefit if your concept works.
  19. Blue string pudding, she might have started this thread or the other one, I dunno To refresh, I, being a very caring chap sacrificed my extremely useful ecofan clone to BSP..
  20. A fantastic and worthy idea, with one minor flaw, BSP would go all road runner and be in the next county if she saw it
  21. I am a sceptic but I know there wasn't a butterfly any where near because BSP would have moved into my boat until I had removed the offending creature
