  1. I don't know if Isuzu produce side rail bearers, but fitting a set cured resonance issues on our Lister Petter LPWS3. RLWP of this parish fitted them.

  3. Similar has happened to some on telegraph pole footsteps and slipped. Again external staff bombarded with lurid safety instructions.

  5. A Gardner 2L2, complete with roses! There is an historical precedent for roses on engines.

  9. It was supposed to be a pun. On Swan Vestas matches!
  10. Gort is a beautifully maintained boat. (no connection) Straight as a die. Would need a loving owner though. Photo taken 2019. It was Mike H's fist boat as captain when he was 15.
  11. Had different yards quote with & without VAT. Like you Arthur, I learnt the hard way: "Once bitten twice shy." Be grateful it wasn't a yard on The Coventry Canal. I tried it once and kept getting phone calls saying this needs doing, that needs doing.
  12. Space invasion didn't seem to bother working boaters! 😁 Admittedly it was for a stoppage. When we moor for the night, we tend to look where other boats are moored. Mainly for "safety in numbers reasons. However if possible we leave a boat length gap between boats. Having said that we are happy to move the boat along if moorings become popular and space is needed. Had a classic with a Challenger at Battlefield moorings some years ago now. I opened the slide about 9.00am and the steerer of the Challenger said to me: "Are you moving soon?" on being asked why the answer: "We are having to share mooring rings!"

  16. A while ago now, when out on the boat, we used to access broadband by putting a dongle inside an CB aerial coil with a magnetic base. See pictures. The dongle had a sim card in it, the other end had a usb connection which plugged into a laptop. Due to advances in telecommunication this no longer works. I have been doing research and all the external aerials I can find require plugging into a router. We don't want that as we only want access to a laptop. The free WiFi reception in the marina where we moor is poor. If too many are accessing it the connection it frequently drops out. Does anyone have a dongle/aerial solution for occasional use, which does what we want? Thank you. ETA we've tried internal aerials but being inside the boat, again reception is poor. We either have to sit in the cratch or in the hatches which is not always convenient.
  17. Thank you, I wasn't sure.
  18. This? From Waterways World 1997. Whilst on the topic of Horse Boating I heard that Sue Day of the Horse Boat Society had passed away last weekend.
  19. Some information on the shop. Waterways World 1978. Also the shop Folk law has it that only water cans purchased from this shop can (excuse the pun) be called "Buckby Cans." Article on Barney boats here:
  20. From the art of course sailing. The cure for seasickness, go and sit beneath a tree. Sea sickness is actually no laughing matter. On one cruise I skippered a crewmember heaved so hard he cracked a rib!
