  1. The 7912 is the negative version, it cannot replace the 7812. You could use the 7912 by placing it in the negative supply.
  2. Have you got the 7812 regulator connected? 18-20volts DC accross the smoothing capacitor is about right but you should only have 12 volts after the regulator even with a light load.
  3. Is it possible to run three 7812 regulators in parallel so that they current share? If so it would make a cheap 3amp regulator.
  4. I think you will have a problem with a 7805 as it's a 5v regulator!
  5. The valve clearance setting is the same as any 4 cylinder four stroke inline engine. The 'Rule of 9' should work OK. Valve 1 open, adjust valve 8 Valve 2 open, adjust valve 7 Valve 3 open, adjust valve 6 Valve 4 open, adjust valve 5 Valve 5 open, adjust valve 4 Valve 6 open, adjust valve 3 Valve 7 open, adjust valve 2 Valve 8 open, adjust valve 1
  6. Have you fitted the correct oil filter? The filter has an anti drain valve to ensure that the oil pressure comes up quickly. If you have an oil pressure guage check that the pressure comes up in a couple of seconds. A few years ago I was chatting to an Anglowelsh engineer about Isuzu engines. He said that they don't check valve clearances until at least 2000hrs. as experience has shown that they do not require adjustment before this time.
  7. Isn't the Bolinder a 2 stroke?
  8. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sight...;region=England Try this link, you can also go to realtime data/ orbital tracking. This will show where the ISS is at the present time.
  9. Has the boat got a current licence ticket displayed? If not, report it to the British Waterways online licence checker. They can then come and remove the boat.
  10. I would go from Gt.Hayward. The staff at Anglowelsh are very friendly and helpful. I had 5 years hiring with them before buying my own boat. Day 1:- Gt. Hayward to Rugeley ( bridge 62 Ash Tree pub) 2 locks Day 2:- Br. 62 to Fradley junction 3 locks Day 3:- Fradley to Rugeley Br. 66 Day 4:- Return to Gt. Hayward A nice relaxed trip with only 10 locks.
  11. I've got a separate tank for heating so I declare 100% for that. I buy white diesel for propulsion from a Supermarket ( cheaper than Marina propulsion red)
  12. Aquafax are the main service agents in the UK. http://www.aquafax.co.ukTecma are part of the Thetford group. http://www.thetford.com http://www.thetford-europe.com All the parts lists and manuals are available for download from these sites. Thetford will give you a list of spares stockists if you contact them, I think they are in Sheffield.
  13. The rev counter signal is derived from the alternator. Check for poor connections on the alternator and engine harness. Is your alternator actually working ?

    boat hire

I've had five good boats in the past from Anglowelsh from Tardebigge, Bunbury and Great Hayward. I did lots of research and found them the lowest cost for a good quality boat. I've now got my own boat but have fond memories of my hiring days with them.
  15. Paraffin/ kerosene should mix ok with diesel. I once knew a farmer that ran his tractor on central heating oil (kerosene) although it's lubricating properties are not as good as red diesel, this shouldn't be a problem with a Webasto pump. Have you asked Webasto about running on paraffin/kerosene? I think kerosene is cheaper than paraffin.
  16. I've got a Mastervolt 3kw. inverter, it's very well made and performs perfectly. Thoroughly recommended.
  17. Anglo Welsh include all fuel in their prices so there are no nasty shocks when you return the boat. They make it quite clear on their website that they will not make any surcharges when fuel costs increase.
  18. For those who are having problems with their Webasto here are the links to the parts list and service manuals for the popular Top C model. Other models available from the same website. Free download in PDF form. http://www.suremarine.com/manuals/webasto-...tsl17-parts.pdf http://www.suremarine.com/manuals/webasto-...sl17-repair.pdf
  19. If anyones going to France you may be interested to know that you can can get API CD 15/40 oil in Auchan hypermarkets. I've recently brought back some at a cost of 6 Euros ( £5 ) for 5 litres. This oil is ideal for Barrus and Isuzu engines and probably most others too.
