  1. Hi all, I'm Looking for a bit of advice. We are a family of four, including two very young kids, living on a 12ft Widebeam. We have just killed our 1kw sterling inverter, which never seemed up to the job anyway. It was always whirring within no time of leaving the mooring and overloaded or went over temp in not much more time. We are now looking to address our power on the move problem, as with small kids we find we really need the fridge and such like. We are thinking of a master volt or Victron inverter 2.5 - 3.0 kw, but are not sure what would be a reasonable size battery bank etc. At the mo we have 3 135 amp s-gel batteries for domestic. We thought about getting a couple of solar panels to help and maybe getting one more battery as well. Has anybody got any thoughts/ knowledge they would be willing to share with us on this matter? I am also a bit unsure whether our "Intelligent" Sterling charger is worth keeping, as our domestic battery seems to have been leaking acid and the charger is on a gel setting, so it shouldn't be cooking an acid battery should it? We run a small size fridge with a little freezer compartment, a tv, a computer, a microwave, a couple of lamps and a couple of music devices off 240v. We don't use the washing machine away from home and our heating is a 9kw webasto diesel job, which doesn't get used much on the move anyway. Our gas oven has a fan. Any input greatfully received Dunkydoo
  2. Hi, I was thinking of having two double glazed windows fitted to our daughters bedroom to hold the heat in the winter. We live on a wide beam boat. I spoke to a narrow boat window company and they said that double glazed windows on boats can be problematic. What experiences of double glazing do forum members have? Thanks Dunkydoo
