Turned up at our boat today for a bit of pre season fettling. Found the boathook missing from the roof.
I never thought anybody would steal it-the only decent bit is the galvanised end, the pole has more curve than Robin Hoods bow!
Anyway, getting on well with our jobs, a 'knock, knock, knock on the hull.
I went outside to find an angler apologising for borrowing it. The day before his landing net had fallen in after sliding down a steep bank of the adjacent River Cherwell where he had been trying his luck. It fetched up stuck in a twiggy snag, out of reach. He had returned today armed with a rake and a grapnel on a line. The grapnel line broke, it had UVed away to dust, fortunately before he used it, his rake was too short. So, using initative, he walked back to the canal towpath where he saw our grotty boathook looking very sorry for itself and prime for borrowing.
He got his landing net back-quite a fine one too, I would have been sorry to lose it-and returned our boathook.
A result for initative and honesty!
What’s this got to do with the stolen boat. Can we stay on topic for once. 🥴

Sounds good. I think Magnets are a much better idea for flexible panels rather than gluing them down. I’m surprised some of the manufacturers haven’t cottoned on to that and incorporated magnets into them during the manufacturing process. Perhaps they have and I’ve missed it. 🤔
Yeah been looking for a solution and when people mentioned on here the magnets I had to search and found some that have a threaded bar in them and they worked out well.
here are my panels

Admiral Grantham was operated by Abingdon Boat Centre and hired through the Boat Enquiries booking agency. I have brochures showing it available from 1978-1984, though it may have been hired in other years. This is an extract from the 1978 brochure.
I believe that the boat was built by Shropshire Union Cruises - their design was similar to Dartline but they used a different style of window.
Thanks for this I had passed
on to mother in law.

Like this. I have now done similar except I’m using flexi panels. I know people don’t like them but I do. Got 4 panels of 800w now on roof. And they are held in place strong. Not moved neither.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but the wife when she was a kid went on a Narrowboat with her mother and father and they hired this boat from Abingdon. Would this be a dartline hire boat. This was in the eighties and they went up the Oxford canal as far as Napton and turned around.
Some More pictures.

Out of interest, how long did the old fridge last?
It was on the boat when we purchased so can’t be certain on that am afraid. And it was removed working and given to another boater. We have fitted all new stuff out in our boat hence why it went and didn’t look right where it was.

How about two circles cut from plastic fascia, so the front feet drop into the hole in the centre, screwed to the floor. or even just a length of it with two holes in it.
Yep that’s an idea aswell. Like the holders you used to get for sofas back in the eighties. Thanks.

Never needed a bracket in any of the ones we've had, even tall fridge/freezers. If the feet are adjusted it shouldn't move.
The feet are adjusted, and the fridge sits on a laminate floor so when you go to open the door it kinda pulls it a little bit it’s no biggy just me being a bit ocd I have to line it up afterwards when the door is closed again. 🤪

We have purchased a new shoreline fridge as a direct replacement for the old shoreline fridge. Like a dummy I removed it but didn’t take of the bracket underneath that stopped it from moving around when the door is opened or when moving. Is there such a thing to purchase for the new fridge, I have done a google search and can’t see anything straight away that comes up. Doesn’t even mention it in the manual.

Adding infoHi all,
I am after a hatch lock like the photo attached. This is made by ospreymarine but it doesn’t seem they do them anymore. I have contacted them but no reply as yet so thought I would ask on here if anyone knows of a similar thing I could use. I need it to lock the rear door to the sliding hatch. Picture from ospreymarine website currently I am having to lock it from the inside which is what I don’t want to do. Thanks.
