I think it's worth recording this information , not sure how. There will be variations over time no doubt and quite possibly more than one name for some places as well as its official name.

Napton junction is what it's called in the modern guides and what I would refer to it as . I know where the Marina is but have no idea where Wigrams Turn is supposed to be or what it's "Sunday" name is. Edit due to reading Derek's post which appeared while I was wrestling with spelling etc. I now know where it is , thanks .

Those things should always be broken up and disposed of properly in a bin. If you pull them apart it reduces the risk to wildlife but is not an excuse to be careless about where they end up.

I think those of us following on later tend to stick to the published names mostly especially when off local territory . Cut end and Wolvehampton top seem to be still going strong , they're descriptive rather than tied to local persons . I'd feel a bit silly using the boat people's names for places down the GU , it's way off area for me . The world ends and there are dragons and such once you get to the start of the Oxford. I notice that the name Wigrams Turn has been carried forward as a modern Marina name.

Dave , I can understand that the boater assaulted was keen to get away and probably didn't want to hang about and deal with the police. Without a victim I don't suppose the police would be much bothered if you had reported it . It's a great pity that some locals are spoiling a good mooring and I think it needs CRT to get involved and put some pressure on the locals to behave in a more civilised manner. They can lean much heavier on the authorities than an individual . It's time they considered the safety of their customers as a priority.
