  1. Rereading this topic I think somebody has got it slightly wrong, John the lockie was correct in stating that you could fish from the boat and not the bank as its states in the water ways rules that angling must not take place from the bank within 30yds I believe of a lock , being on a boat means he was not breaking that rule.

  7. I suppose I'm lucky in that we have a weekly market (Thursday) that has a wet fish stall, also a pub that has a sea food stall and to finish off a wet fish shop open 6 days a week, all straight from the fish market. I do not buy my fish from supermarkets as I have found its to old due to its road mile-edge, Catch, take to harbour, take to fish market, take to packing plant, take to distribution centre, take to supermarket and then me take home--- thats a lot of miles !! As I do not eat Salmon (farmed), Trout(farmed)or Cod (I prefer Rock Eel (Bull Huss), and Tuna ( not rod + line caught )then I am already most of the way there, but it still galls me to find out just how much is being wasted.
  8. FishFight - H.F.W. Sorry did not know where to put this but here seems to be the best place. Has anybody seen the Hugh Fernly Whittingstall program on channel 4. The fight to stop discard at sea of a huge amount of political dead fish. He has started a campaign to try and stop this waste of precious fish. You can sign up at www.fishfight.net/ ,I have already done so. Its wildlife being killed and thrown away. Its fishing - even though its at sea. Its something a lot of us eat on the waterways. Please support Hugh.
  9. I use a Garmin nuvi 200w , for my road/in car work and for accurately positioning myself when fishing, its a couple of years old but I do believe that they are still available. £72.04 +£3.95 p+p found on Amazon / Total Discount stores. http://www.trustedreviews.com/car-tech/rev...200W-Sat-Nav/p1
  10. YES I DO, as an angler who carries my food in a holdall , I could not say how many broken eggs I have found when I have arrived for 3 or 4 days fishing. Now NO more broken eggs
  11. Just to add my tuppence worth have a look at AS.BIKES for folding, www.asbikes.co.uk OR RUSHEBIKES for electric power, www.rushebikes.com Just trying to help.
  12. The fighting ability of the different carp ranges from mirror carp to common carp to ghost carp to koi carp which fight the hardest. Size also comes into it, as fish in the 14lb to 18lb bracket fight harder than those smaller and larger ones use their weight instead of tail / fin power. All carp can with patience be taught to feed from the hand if they feel in a safe area.
