  1. This boat has, according to the vloggers who own it, had lithium batteries changed, new larger inverter, 3 generators, larger prop and complete new motor installed all in the first ten months of its life! It has used multiple times more diesel than a diesel engined boat, even during the summer when the diesel stove wasn’t being used, according to the bright green boat’s owners. A prime example of a boat fitter jumping into technology about which they’ve done little research and more worryingly, have little understanding.
  2. Engineer came this afternoon. Very methodical guy who checked the simple things first. No problems with the control cable so he went to the gear box. Not a drop of oil in there! No oil anywhere around the engine bay! But, a bottle of oil on the swim next to the gearbox area. The service guy was rushing when he did the service and we’re guessing he emptied the gearbox oil and then failed to refill it. He hasn’t been paid yet and he can swing for the full cost of the service 🤬 Thanks everyone who commented. Much appreciated.
  3. Thanks for all these replies. The control lever is pulled out for neutral so to definitely not sticking or button left out. The engine did briefly go into forward gear earlier today but once back into neutral didn’t engage again. I have someone looking at it later this afternoon and will report back.
  4. It’s a PRM150. Launched Nov 2021 I’ve had several problems with the gearbox before. 2 selector shaft seals, first at 50 hours then 150! PRM eventually replaced the manifold? and not had any issues since. I hate having work done on my engine but it’s not something I can do myself, unfortunately. Thanks for your help.
  5. Had my engine serviced a couple of weeks ago. Due to ill health it’s only done just over 150 hours since last service. As far as I’m aware, the gearbox oil wasn’t changed this time. The whole kit is just over 2 years old. The engine was run in neutral after the service to check for leaks. Came to run it today and it runs in neutral, although there was a squeak at lowish revs but does not turn the prop in either forward or reverse. Might the service guy have disconnected something and not reconnected it? I’ve called him and he will come out next week. I haven’t paid him yet! Any suggestions please?
  6. Most of them find everything “stunning” as they film their boat chugging along or show endless scenes of going through locks. There’s one I’ve watched a bit of with a couple of guys on a newish electric boat. They seem to have had so much trouble with it and things replaced. They’re all very samey I think.
  7. Go onto the Kennel Club website. They have lists of registered breeders who indicate when they have litters available.
  8. Another vote for Sofabed Barn. Super comfortable sofa and bed.
  9. The previous raffle “Boat for a fiver” went very quiet after all the hype on vlogs and pushing tickets under everyone’s nose at Crick. I guess the vloggers who are so closely associated with Oakums were wary of getting into any sort of discussion in the aftermath. Good luck to anyone who wins this wide beam although I fear this may go the way of the other raffle.
  10. Strangely differing posts from the organisers of the raffle and Oakums! Methinks this company is being economical with the truth! So glad I decided against asking them to build my new boat!
  11. Yes I’ve seen those vlogs. Seems that this boat has major electrical issues. For an “all electric” boat, they seem to need to run the generator a lot! They’re reporting that the boat fitter is now going to rewire the batteries. I wonder how much experience he has in fitting these electric drive systems? These vlogs don’t do him any favours I fear.
  12. No idea. It just doesn’t seem the way to operate a professional company!
  13. The raffle ended last night I believe. The company posted on FB it had been won. What they failed to post was that the lucky winner hasn’t won the boat as not enough tickets were sold. Presumably they’ve won some cash?
  14. There’s a Hudson tug for sale at Aqueduct atm. Bit pricey at £155,000 tho!
