Hi Roger, we know Brian and Mary. They are such a knowledgeable couple and so interesting. It is them that have got us hooked on going to Berlin as they had loved it there. This summer we met up with them in Epinal and had a lovely evening together. Will certainly pass on your regards. Also know Ruth and Terry on Verwisseling. Their boat is overwintering somewhere else this winter as they were having some alterations done at Jo Parfitts boatyard. We have been living on our C-Kip trawler boat since 2006 and have been sailing around Turkey, the Greek Isles up to Italy, to Elba, across to Corsica and then a night crossing to South of France where we entered the Rhone at Port St Louis. We have been on the French canals for a year and this summer sailed from Roanne up the Doubs to Strasbourg, Nancy et and then looped around via Epinal back to Roanne. A wonderful experience. If anyone is thinking of doing a similar route they may found our website of interesr. Further to my posting below, we have still had no success repairing our genny. We are currently in Gannay but will now be heading to St Jean de Losne (France). Any ideas or suggestions anyone PLEASE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We have a problem with our diesel generator. The fuel system seems okay and the injector has been overhauled but it will not start. We suspect lack of compression. The make is a Ruggerini R90M single cylinder diesel. We cannot seem find anyone here who services these engines, as we understand the company has ceased manufacturing. Is anyone aware of a company that can undertake repairs? Any advice will be much appreciated. We are currently located in Roanne (dept 42) France. We urgently want t leave here as going to Strasbourg via the Doubs for the summer. Many thanks

Hi Kiki, Note you said "since leaving South Africa". Are you a Safrican? We are also from thetre, actually flying down tomorrow for a visit, currently in ,Greece on our boat but will be going to French canals this summer.

Washing machine onboard Hi Derek, We have a Zanussi Studio model onboard. Works great, washes two and a half kilo at a time, heats the cold water and is my lifesaver. Small enough to fit inside our bedside cupboard.

Cevni certificate or equivalent Many thanks for the reply. However we are not resident in the UK. We are currently in Levkas and will make our way to France ca. May. We have investigated with RYA and various sailing schools and they all have the same response that they cannot do a CEVNI test for us because non British and non British resident. If a person is not a UK citizen how does one obtain a CEVNI as it is not possible to do it through the RYA. My husband is a South African ex Master and he holds a certificate for: "Skipper offshore limited to 200miles offshore - commercial vessels under 25GT and recreational vessels under 100GT-proceeding to sea from a commercial harbour, fishing harbour, or a protected launch site" It was issued by SAMSA, South African Maritime Safety Authority Pretoria, South Africa Any advice appreciated

Could someone please advise us with regard to Cevni. Apparently a Cevni certificate is required in addition to an ICC. An ICC can only be taken if one is British and a resident of UK. If one is South African what does one do to obtain a Cevni or is there an equivalant certificate for other nationalities. My husband was a Master on commercial vessels (expired) He now holds a certificate for up to 25 ton commercial seagoing vessels etc. This was issues by SAMSA - South African Maritime Safety Association (Dept of Transport) No one seems to be able to assist us. The RYA, while helpful does not issue the above to non Brits. Do hope someone can assist. What do Americans, Canadians, Aussies etc do?
