  1. The engine is a 1.5, the starter motor is 2 hole. I have got one now and it is working perfect.thanks for all the replies.
  2. I forgot to reply to this thread. The starter motor is actually a 1.8 model, not 1.5. Still having trouble with the rebuild place.
  3. Thanks for the replies, I will try and get to the boat tomorrow and do the rubbing, good idea. Right I can get my hands on a 3 hole one tomorrow or Weds, so might try that
  4. Hi , help required please. I have a BMC1.5 engine in my boat and the starter motor went kaput, so I took it to a local place for rebuilding, they have lost it, so while I am in discussions about how they are going to sort it( it s looking like the company may be going under, so I am not holding out much hope). I need another one obviously, but this is where I am stumped, the old one only had 2 bolts holding the starter on, but all the ones I see for sale have 3. I cant get the part number from the old one , so and I realise this is a long shot, has anyone got any idea of which starter motor it could be or suggest a replacement ? I am needing to move the boat fairly quickly , so any advice on which one , is gratefully received. Thank you in advance.
  5. Not true, I thanked all that replied.
  6. If it doesnt show what sub forum its in, what is the point of having sub forums ?
  7. No its the same one. I remember why I stopped using this forum now, some of the so called helpful people are just ar**holes. I will never bother to ask a simple question again. I just thought that it being in the BMC section, then you would be pretty certain that it was about a BMC engine. I didnt realise that every engine was totally different , but now I do, I apologise for not knowing it was called the rockerbox cover breather. Anyway I must remember to post a photo of the engine next time, even though as stated I was a hour away from the boat and if I was going to go and take a photo, then I could just have measured it .Insert other media Thanks to everyone that replied .and rest assured this is the last place I will ever ask another question in. Too many just wanting an argument here it seems.
  8. Hi, I have had a look on here and I cannot find the answer so , here goes, What is the size of pipe I need for the engine breather pipe? The one from the top of the engine that goes to the air filter housing. Mine has got a crack in it and like a fool I forgot to measure the diameter before coming home and its a hour trip to the boat. I know that the good people on here are very knowledgeable nad I am hoping someone could help me. Thanks Mark
  9. With our BMC 1500, we have to glow the plugs for about 45- 60 seconds before it will fire up. Depending on the temp. They really are a bas***d to get going sometimes, but once running they go forever.
