These are really helpful replies. I have now gad the engineers back and they have taken the gearbox off, tested it off the boat and found no problem.other than what they described as black and sticky oil. They have now refitted the box and it appears to.be working OK. Time will tell as we have not cruised yet. The linkages suggestions are very interesting and should the issue reoccur I will pursue this avenue further. Thank you all for your help.

Hi, I am having trouble when cruising moving from speeds over tickover back into neutral. Basically when in tickover forwards or reverse I can move the control back into neutral, if I go faster than tickover the lever goes back to tickover but won't then go back into neutral. I can clear the fault by turning off the engine, moving the morse back into neutral then switching back on again. I have had engineers check the cables, the clutch and the gearbox and they say there is no problem. I have a vetus 4.45 engine, with a PRM 150 gearbox. Gearbox and drive plate were fitted new a year ago. Can anyone help?
