  1. Gay Monica was my families favourite. Ihave movie of it that has just been put on digital memory stick. We are occasionally asked why Nightwatch. There’s two answers. That we know of. Rembrandt and/or Terry Pratchett.
  2. Ours is okay. How do you ascertain Cut in and cut out pressure please?

  7. Good point. To be honest guv. the cooker needs a deep clean. It’s not filthy but it’s not clean. I’ll take all the knobs off and clean them. Just put the burner back in place. It just slots onto the supply nozzle with a retaining nut. Blow me down. It now works. And that before cleaning the blasted thing. But I will now clean it all.
  8. The igniter is at the rear of the burner unit. The bit that has the potential fault sits in the flame and glows hot. Let go of the ‘grill knob’ and the flame goes out. Had the cooker out now. Without disconnecting the gas supply which I’m hesitant to do I can’t twist the unit round to scrutinise where the thermocouple connects to the unit. I can but try try try again. Surprising how much muck and dust accumulates around these things. We need a new boat. This one is getting dirty. You have got nylon from me writing nye-on meaning nearly broken. I think.
  9. We have a nine year old Stoves cooker. I believe the thermocouple has packed up. Been looking online for a replacement but they don’t look the same. However, the one we have has a nye on break in the cable. Is there such a thing as heat resistant tape that I can carryout a botch up repair? I have tiled around the cooker so will need to remove ‘stuff’ to get the Bloomin thing out which I’m reluctant to do. I’m the wrong age and shape to do this easily. Thanks for any forthcoming advice.
  10. There’s some very knowledgeable people on this forum. They’ll be along soon.

  12. It’s always satisfying to get a result of someone’s issues. Hopefully positive.
  13. With hindsight yes! Best advice I could come up with at the time. Better than nowt I suppose.
  14. I refer to my post, the third, where I was reasonably gentle with the op. I stand by my comments.
  15. I am not an electrician. Far from it. But, to me, I would look at the performance of the alternator. The batteries seem to be flat (without juice) and the intermittent workings of the alternator are working the 12v system. Turn the engine off and no power. I think you need someone to look at it. The boatyard that has the bus cafe seem competent. Talk to them. I hope you get sorted soon.
  16. The price of trail cameras vary considerably. Is it worth the investment or are the lower priced units good enough for an amateur?
  17. Talking of still dead, I found this on line, thought it respectable.
  18. About ten months ago I replaced our three rads and pipework. We have a Eberspacher diesel heater that was malfunctioning. All okay now. During this period I learnt that the heater is sensitive to certain antifreezes and flushing stuff. I can’t be anymore specific (it was ten months ago!). I only say as others can advise accordingly. I have five litres of antifreeze that I was advised ‘not’ to use. Hey ho! Used bog standard car antifreeze in the end.

  20. To be honest and fair my opinion as a CC’r and not particularly well off financially, if these increases result in better proactive maintenance and resulting repairs then so be it. If, as I suspect personally, it’s just a folly to get funds for pay rises for management then this would need to be investigated thoroughly. I and many have written to our MPs for clarification on the government’s position regards funding for our national waterway system. This has resulted, in far too many cases, is a cut and pasted letter in response. It’s sad times and ain’t going to get any better in the future.

  25. Worth the walk into Nantwich though. A delightful town with loads of history. A pleasant museum. Nice pubs. We like Nantwich.
