  1. DOH! Sorry folks. Indeed, Wootton Wawen, near STRATFORD upon Avon. Dyslexia lures Steve
  2. Last Thursday (18th) a boat moored at Wootten was broken in to. In through waterside side hatch, stole bread and ham, out through bankside side hatch. Hmmm, I'm sure most of you will recognise the M.O. If you are in the area do keep an eye on neighbours boats. Thanks Steve
  3. Hi ya, Few years ago it was moored at Wootton (SoA) and I knew the previous owner (prior to couple with HUGE dog). I know it was in excellent condition then and was repainted to what appears to be the current colour scheme. I always thought it looked great and when the then owner came to sell it was tempted myself. Engine sounded wonderful and it handled superbly, “turning on a sixpence”, but that may have been the man at the tiller! Never did see inside but believe that it was a slightly unusual layout. Basic but very functional and well kept (the owner was a wiz with engines). What it is like now, couldn’t say. When it the then owner sold it, it was through Apollo Duck and, I’m sure it was for less than the current asking price. Cheers Steve
  4. Hmmm Chestnuts. Bought a load of Chestnuts last Christmas as a treat for roasting on top of the stove (yum). Thing was I had some left over (passed their best) which I left in a bowl to one side. It's still there. Seems odd that I have had so few spider visitors this year, where as in previous years they have driven nuts . Loads on the outside of the boat, they especially like the swan neck and the mooring ropes as an easy place to build webs, but I can put up with that. Neighbours complain about having had lots of spidies but I've had practically none inside so far. So come Christmas I'll be buying more Chestnuts, some for me and some for the spiders. Steve
  5. You can get "mini ratchets" in shorter lengths... The Ratchet Shop Luggage straps may be an alternative. Steve
  6. Thanks for the tip. I've been using a dab of ammonia on kitchen roll. Works well, but hold your breath!
  7. Hi ya, That sounds awful , hope you’re feeling better now. When moored in that spot in the past had experiences of the drift of the spray but fortunately without your symptoms. Had a bit of a headache but cured with Ruddles County! Over the years that field seems to be rotated through various crops, one year barley, another oil seed rape, another fallow etc (not sure of order). It’s important to find out what chemical was being sprayed as symptoms not at all good. I’ll ask around and see what I can find out. Steve
  8. Aha! Found you. Thought I'd say hello online although I'm sure we'll see you the Nav again soon!

  9. Don't know if these are worth considering... Terra-Bolt Think they are quite expensive, but a friend uses them to anchor his light aircraft from blowing over! ...and you need a 65mm socket to install/remove them.
  10. Hi Knotty, There used to be a boat called Bees Knees moored just by Wootton Wawen a while ago. My failing memory has it that the boat was basically a sort of dark maroon colour. That was owned by a family with 2 young girls. I believe they eventually sold the boat and towpath rumour has it they moved landside to Henley in Arden. If you like I can ask around as I'm in the area. Cheers Steve
  11. Thanks for the tip Colin. It is pumping out fine (thank goodness), it's just that the water fill that's not happening. Hence the jug... Task now set for tommorrow morning when morale support arrives with a meter so we can check the solenoid etc. Going for pump out first just in case. Cheers
  12. Thanks everyone. Given me the confidence to have an investigate, now I'm back at the boat it's my new weekend project! Already sussed that the click I hear is at the magic button end, which at least confirms the problem is at the loo end. Yes, very chuffed with all the respones. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks Gary, very helpful. Obviously I need to do some more investigation. I'll go click hunting! Cheers
  14. Hi ya, Need some advice please... I have a Tecma Silence toilet, for which I don't have a manual. It was installed about four years ago and has worked fine. It decided this morning to not fill with water. Ho hum, jug of water to the rescue. When I push the magic button I hear the click (of the solenoid?) but no water appears. I'm guessing that there is a solenoid that opens a valve to let the water in. Water pressure all normal so it must be a problem within the unit. Is it possible to get spares such as what I'm guessing is the valve? How difficult is it to mess about fitting such a thing? Everything is boxed in at the back of the loo, so what disasters are likely if I unscrew the loo from the floor and attempt to pull it forward to access the workings? All advice most welcome. Meanwhile I'll keep the jug handy Steve
