  1. I hate the gravel it scratches the wooden floor inside the boat when brought inside on shoes
  2. What really bugs me is people who leave their boats in reverse gear unattended. If someone walking past was to fall in the canal they would be chewed up by the propeller. Apart from the destruction they may be causing to the canal bank if they are always in the same spot.
  3. I would suggest the caldon. It's beautiful
  4. I would just go in backwards. Let's face it everyone knows that boats aren't meant to steer well in reverse Good luck
  5. We have one of these and the kids have great fun with it It drives proper boaters mad because they hate it
  6. I often get the local kids to help with the locks too they are also useful when asking about the local area and I learn a lot. I don't tar all kids with the same brush as I know non of you do. Where the boat was moored was dodgie. It was away from all view of the road and there are no houses about. The kids there where riding past us on their bikes in what seemed like a circle through the woods round the back and up past us. I am certain that they were waiting for us to leave do that they could have another look inside. Us being there did not give them opportunity and the boat was taken back to CRT moorings below the Wigan locks and hopefully was secured ready for the owners return The steering had gone which is why it was left there. CRT would not give me any more info on the owner but I don't mind that as it is confidential. Hope all is well for him and that he gets his boat steering fixed and is not too traumatised by the damage to his lovely boat.
  7. Do you think that they might include a tracking system for continuous cruisers?
  8. Thanks Liam and Kerry. How's the new set up going? Have you reduced your hours yet?
  9. Wigan CRT not BW are sending s little boat down with some men to collect the boat and put it in a safe place. When they have done this we shall move on. The local kids are watching very closely.
  10. Hi Does anyone know the owners of this boat. Lady about 55ft burgundy and grey cruiser narrowboat Moored Leigh branch wigan in between poolstock locks 1 and 2 It has been broken into and smashed inside I am concerned that the kids might come back later and set fire to it We have reported it to the police and are currently waiting for them and have informed BW who aren't that interested
  11. Good luck in your new venture Will you be selling home made apple pies as well? Yum Does anyone remeber the fish bowl she had hanging off her front wall? It was like a bulgy picture/bowl thing with real fish in it. I still want one now. haha
  12. Can we put an order in?? It's very pretty
  13. Sad. Gary Gorton is dead. My dad says he passed away about 2 years after they had their boat. Theirs was completed in 1999 and dad stayed on the site for about 6 months to start their fit out. It was the 3 rd to last Gary Gorton boat made. The trade name Gorton something makes good boats which have some have the original Gary style as the lads all worked together for some time prior to the exchange if business. I love my dads boat. It's a beaut. My boat is pretty cute too
  14. I thought 'Gary gorton' was no longer in this world??? My parents have a 'Gary Gorton'. Lovely hull.
  15. Hi I have looked at these great pics and have spotted my parents boat. We were last (ish) to moor up in the dock. The next day we were one of the first into the lock the next day so would probably have been near the front of the lock. The river pics were published in the waterways world and we could see our boat in the magazine. It was a great experience. I was 14 yrs old. The red arrow is their boat, the orange arrow could be me and I think the boy on the dock side is my big brother. Hold on I cant upload the... That took ages!! Have you any more? Sue
  16. Hi tim My parents boat was an ex hire boat. A Frobisher shroppie boat. During this holiday it was still painted blue and White and I think was still named vitus bearing!! We moored alongside a dock and had to carry the dog for a wee. That night we went to the pub and were locked in due to the wapping troubles. I remember it was an early start the next day to the river. It was an IWA campaign cruise. We took loads of pictures but must have lost the film during the holiday so we have no pics of the docks, river or london. These photos put on are wonderful. I will need to look more closely tomorrow on my computer. Thanks Sue
  17. Hello Do you have any more pics if that 1986 limehouse basin that I can kindly have. I was there and can't see if you can see my parents boat. Excited Sue
  18. Omg chill a bit. How long does it take to wait for the boat to come through the bloomin lock? 10 mins or so!!!! Time for a little natter. People should accept that sometimes they just were not in view when the locker looked. Post done to death I think.
  19. Hey mrs Lovely paint jobby. Looks faberoonie See you up the cut somewhere Susie B
  20. We are unlucky too. We have managed to freeze up two showers this winter Is there a better shower mixer to buy to replace the last on payday or does someone have a spare knocking around the shed :-/ The best of it is, we hardly use the shower
  21. Just don't pee in the shower and you'll be fine
  22. Great to hear that you are on the road to recovery. No doubt will see you about the canal after the big freeze. Take care and happy cruising. Sue x
