I often get the local kids to help with the locks too they are also useful when asking about the local area and I learn a lot. I don't tar all kids with the same brush as I know non of you do. Where the boat was moored was dodgie. It was away from all view of the road and there are no houses about. The kids there where riding past us on their bikes in what seemed like a circle through the woods round the back and up past us. I am certain that they were waiting for us to leave do that they could have another look inside. Us being there did not give them opportunity and the boat was taken back to CRT moorings below the Wigan locks and hopefully was secured ready for the owners return
The steering had gone which is why it was left there. CRT would not give me any more info on the owner but I don't mind that as it is confidential.
Hope all is well for him and that he gets his boat steering fixed and is not too traumatised by the damage to his lovely boat.
