  1. Always good to be proved wrong... she is the youngest listed boat on the list of boats from the harland and wolff website though and some of those dates dont tie up to the above. However regarless of that the warranty has run out, and the evidence is that in spite of having some careful owners, the uncaring ones ruled the roost...
  2. I believe ( though happy to be corrected ) they all stars and towns started with two slides . Subsiquent modifications have muddied the water also many yarwoods boats have a replica wooden back cabin rather than the original riveted steel cabin. That reflects the early removal of steel cabins. as the owner of the last built town class woolwich ( whose engine room sides and frames are about the only thing above the gunnel origional it had 2 slides...
  3. Course you buy a second version of the first heap so you can fix it. You then invariably fix the second. We ended up with a humber vogue and a singer sceptre, by that process, i also created a saab 95.6 and a ford alfetta.
  4. If you simply say historic you have to have a cutoff date. Its a funny thing when i bought my first historic in 1982 i thought it was old. It was 23 years older than me. My father said thats not old its 20 years younger than i am !
  5. Only if the springer is ex commercial . Dont remember many springer hire boats bridgewater boats maybe
  6. Bean tin and string...maybe they do now thinking about it a friend offered to text them for me a few weeks ago. Age allows me to talk crap. However they are pleasant people but both private.
  7. I must admit I think your idea has merit. But it's complicated I've if you go boating, or have a conflicting responsibility. However as an adjunct to the voluntary lock keeper thing it's a great idea. problem is can you go through 2 weeks of diversity training with annual check ups in order to voluntarily walk a towpath and check paddles. I couldn't that partly why I retired
  8. They boated to ricky because Trevor had missed his intent of doing i think 25 appearances, have filled her with coal, and are selling their converted modern motor and modifying their butty to enable buying Corona. His name and paint is being maintained until it gets too bad. Ive never known them rude and i am defending them because they are anti technology to the point of no internet or phone even. their weekend was ruined by severe dental absess , and an inability to get treatment. Monday they were seeking public transport options to get treatment as they have no car.
  9. They were running water last wek when we were there, in the past there were anti vandal locks on the paddles but being socially inclusive crt have probably removed them. In the 80s the fishists used ti drain those pounds
  10. God almighty i passed him at 1315 been through calcutt to mooring and 2.5 hrs cutting and grinding off hes done ... a mile
  11. Torpedoed? He was blocking the whole canal on a narrow bit the attenders couldnt hold it and it was swinging around queues both sides. Its probably now got a big black mark on the side as i have white paint devaluing the tar. 14 foot beam. I thought 12’6 was blisworth max
  12. Its empty apart from moderns. There is a fatboat heading from shuckborough. He is causing chaos i recon he will be there about 8 pm if he goes all the way
  13. Inability to steer nothing wrong with boat theres a history between fenny and adamant of jumping in front of each other.. this time it went a bit wrong so adamant got tied on the back
  14. I think its the police who do this, because otherwise people park on the a45 and up the hill. I think they funnel people into the provided parking. However its a bit of a pain when it starts on the wednesday.... my car spends about 280 days a year in its garage , but i just happen to need it near the boat while im in braunston for the rally. And no i couldnt get into the parking theres a barrier even though i have a pass..
  15. No parking signs coned off areas tape belive me i tried all options coz boats by stoplock and was in cycling shoes hard to walk in
  16. I went from a basic pwm to a victron blue solar. Its chalk and cheese. My dumbguage shows up to 14.4 v at which point it floats. Before max output was 13.6. Fit and forget. I only have 140 w solar but only 220 amp bats. last few days its been at float just before noon. Sorry max voltage was 13.6
  17. You already cant park anywhere near the marina its village only
  18. Its already chaos cycled to garage to pick up car ( 6 miles from braunston) got back no parking anywhere. Had to park in village ( limited) and walk to boat 5.5 miles. ( well 1/2 mile). No tesla chargepoint...
  19. If you have 3 and they are arguing clearly you need a fourth. Get the adjudicator software patch. just checked the dumbguage 12.8v solar just switched off. thats it after tommorrow its downhill to winter, better go to mooring. Bugger the meter in the back cabins reading 12.9 when i plugged the phone in, better buy another one
  20. You need clever trevor cos ones as clever as clever trevor. however there are reasons to be cheerful No ones as clever i had predoctive taxt
  21. Go into long itchington it has many pubs both basic and posh. Used to have highest pub to inhabitant poulation in warwickshire.
  22. At the moment the thames will be benign . It comes up quite slowly as the catchment is big. Just bear in mind stopping distance with the river behind. Lock cuts are long mainly and you feel like you are crawling. The ‘fastest ‘ bit is normaly through oxford as its narrower. reading with fresh on is far worse. remember you should moor into the current if you are even slightly worried. So going downstream turn round if mooring in stream.
