  1. I strongly suspect that you may be purchasing a new calorifier. Whilst it may be technically possible to repair, IF the leak is from the body of the beastie, I wouldn't risk a repair. Of course, it may be a leak from a pipe joint or gasket - in which case undo the joint, clean it up and remake / get a new gasket.

  3. I'm using the taxi service this evening to attend the Slung Low Theatre performance in Clarence Dock this evening! (Beautiful weather for open air theatre tonight!)

  5. Delighted to learn of your news, Sas. You've had great fun buying her - but it just gets better! - Honestly!
  6. We have a stainless tank, and simply put all drinking water through a a Brita filter jug.
  7. I have a Wasp separator - - well made, and with a stainless filter (which only requires washing) Linky

  10. Thrilled that all your hard work and determination created the very best outcome! Well done all!
  11. 24/7 solid fuel heating circa £20 per week (through winter) 24/7 diesel heating will be 6 to 8 times dearer (with a system such as Webasto/Eberspacher)
  12. The danger in fixing anything to the play, is that the joint is only as strong as the laminations of the ply! Now, if you want a reliable solid job, make vertical uprights from the deck/floor to support the sink - that way all the forces are supported
  13. I would never send the brokerage a copy of the survey, under any conditions. I'd happily have the surveyor write me a detailed list of the estimated cost of gthe necessary repairs, and show that to the brokerage. (I'd also probably choose to deal with a different brokerage to be honest!)
  14. Yup - providing the generator will provide a pure sine wave current, (dependent upon the start-up draw of your washing machine, you may find that you need a 3Kw gennie)
  15. Dirty Gerty, Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to learn of the experience of your friend, though it is most gratifying to hear that 'P' has taken up the case, and is working to resolve the problem.
  16. If you find an adhesive strong enough to glue the sink/bracket assembly to the plywood, ( sorry - that's an huge 'if') The plywood will simply delaminate, and the sink will break your toes when it hits the floor. I suggest you anchor it through the wall, and mount a metal (preferably) or wooden batten on the reverse side of the bulkhead to spread the load of the bolts
  17. The bottom of a boat is rarely blacked, as it is normally too far beneath the surface for there to be much oxygen present (rust will occur most on the waterline. And - - you are likely to scrape the blacking off on the bottom of the canal when you cruise.
  18. Nice one, Biggles. How often will the filters require replacing?

  20. There will be many boaters on this forum who will attest to the (high) quality of Richard's work. I don't think a Lister would be in safer hands.
  21. Danboline bilge paint, available in white or grey - it really is extremely good, easy to apply, hardwearing, and water/oil/fuel tolerant to boot!
