  1. Or fit one of these to your boat and then you can prove where your boat has been if you ever get into a dispute. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/gt600-motion-detecting-gps-travel-tracker-a52ka
  2. Thanks I had a look at the BW site. Looks like there are BW moorings at Froncysyllte and Bettisfield. Unfortunately they have either finished or are not long enough. I will drop Chirk Marina an email and see what they have available.
  3. Hi All, We are moving from London up to North Wales next year. We will be living near Ruthin so Llangollen is as close as the canal gets. Can anyone recommend any good leisure moorings near Llangollen?? Happy with marina or linear but has to be reasonable. Does BW have any mooring along that way? Thanks Tugstyle
  4. Hi, There is a manual for the ma125 gearbox here: Kingfisher Website Could the engine be a Kingfisher? They are made in china and were imported by a british company in the 90's If it is Kingfisher it would be a KD36. I think the chinese base engine is a Fuzhou 395.
  5. Hi, I might be interested in the spares and the starter handle. (mine is missing). But really they should go to whoever buys the engine and gearbox. Drop me a PM if you want to discuss.
  6. A bit like this: I would like to add a pre-heater to mine. I want to be able to run it on SVO (vegetable oil) and apparently this helps.
  7. Is it similar to this? 295 The base engine looks identical to the KD26.
  8. Hi, Sounds right. I have been told that the KD26 was a rebadged chinese engine produced by Fuzhou engine works. Where did you get your model 295? Are they still made? It would be great if they are as the spares might fit the KD26.
  9. Hi, I sent you a PM about a possible source for spare KD26 parts. If you do track one down I might be interested in a spare but not at £250! That's probably more than my KD26 is worth.
  10. Hi, Manual Sheet 1-5 If I am reading it right is says: Cylinder Head Nuts: 16 kg.m. or 115 ft.lbs. I also have a KD26. Have you managed to obtain a spare gasket or are you having one made?
  11. Here is another one: River Severn This one comes with a free house! Is this part of the Severn tidal? Can you moor there?
  12. Is this the same case: Canal-boat-justified-farm-dwelling If so it looks like she won at appeal! Also sets a nice precedent for our woodland venture.
  13. Thanks for all the advice and offers of help. Lots to think about. The Chapter 7 stuff is really interesting but has lots of stories of people failing to get planning permission. These good people seem to have got their project off the ground: camp wood 'In 2006 we were granted planning permission to set up the residential course centre in the woods and to live in our bow top caravan there for six months of the year.' It sounds like 'seasonal' might be the way to approach this. 6-8 months a year at the wood and the rest cruising or on a winter mooring.
  14. Sounds great. I went on loads of camping trips as a kid and being out in all weathers taught me a lot. Is your forest school run in a local wood? Are there any facilities (toilets etc.) on site at all? We are still trying to get a feel for what we will need.
  15. Hi, We are signed up with woodlands.co.uk. Their sites tend to be a bit small and like you say expensive. We are hoping for something bigger maybe 10 - 20 acres. Also john clegg. They seem to a bit more 'forestry' focused. Does anyone know of any other good agents for woodland?
