  1. What's broken? If it's a C200, most of the moving parts are replaceable and there are a number on this forum who've donned the marigolds and done a bit of servicing, so advice and tips should be available....
  2. Terry, that really wasn't necessary. Is there no way we can keep contributions invective free?
  3. The onset of recession might make the transition from aspiration to reality extend somewhat.... Is there really that much demand anyway?
  4. Does this not come down to 'reasonableness'? Perhaps these eventualities could be considered unfortunate and (hopefully) non-recurring. In such circumstances I'd put up with somebody's genny for a couple of hours. If they knocked on my door I'd lend a warm towel or give a sack of coal, especially if a baby's involved, and even if you've fallen in because of your own lack of judgement.
  5. No pictures, but this morning when I left the boat I reckon it was a good 6" above normal level and around the junction very, very muddy looking.
  6. Don't know if it helps, or even if it's the same unit, but this site has some information that might be useful, especially regarding the fusible link.... DynaStart Info
  7. I had this issue once on my Beta - no problems at all until oil and filter change with an after market filter. Changing the filter for the OE version cured it and haven't had the problem since. It could be that the cross reference Fram - Mahle isn't correct and you're already one 'generation' removed with the Isuzu OE - Fram conversion.... The internals may be completely different - flow 'inside to outside', 'outside to inside', 'plugging' valve, no 'plugging' valve, the permutations are almost endless.... I'd try an OE filter first.
  8. Hi Chris, Can you get the crud off the evaporator gauze and from around the igniter pin without too much risk of damage? The evaporator gauze looks quite flimsy to me and therefore I haven't thought of poking about there before.... was also told by a service engineer that it couldn't be cleaned, but perhaps he would say that, wouldn't he? Have you heard of this trick of setting the idle speed of the fan higher to counteract the sooting effect of red? Does it work? Cheers, Denis
  9. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  10. If it's a ThermoTop C there should be a separate loom for the timer. All this from memory and I'm sure someone will be along to confirm or deny.... The loom comprises a red +12V feed, a ground, a brown switched feed - this is where you connect the output from your own timer - and a looped black I think. Incidentally, if you break this loop and install a switch, setting the switch to 'off' restricts the heater run time to one hour.
  11. Going down the weed hatch is a bit of a 'bum twitcher'! The edge isn't razor sharp, but I am b. careful nevertheless....
  12. I've got a very simple cutter disc - looks like some flying weapon off a Bruce Lee film. Have only had the blades fouled once, by a large plastic sack. When I unwound the remains it had been pretty well chopped up, but I guess it was just a bit too big for one mouthful..... Once in a while there comes an interesting noise from below the weed hatch and odd 'stuff' appears in the prop wake, but whether it's really doing anything meaningful I'm not sure....
  13. Builder's plate on my 48ft boat says 6 maximum.
  14. Right. So that's not the definitive diagram then.... and a good job I didn't fork out for an isolation transformer.... and my cheap galvanic isolator is a heap of c**p. Deep joy. I think I'm going for a lie down in a darkened room and then I'll start from the top again and try harder to understand exactly what I should have and where!
  15. Right, I thought Gibbo's might be the definitive, but just wanted a confirmation.
  16. So who does have the definitive wiring diagram that shows exactly how a 240v system should be configured: 1) with isolation transformer 2) without isolation transformer but with galvanic isolator 3) for a genny hook-up?
  17. From the website: Almost makes it sound like living on water is ipso facto, impoverishment
  18. Being away from the home mooring earlier this year and faced with an overstay because I got called away at short notice, I rang BW in advance and they were most accommodating. The patrol officer told me that being kept in the loop made their life much easier and implied that generally speaking, for a legitimate reason it wouldn't be a problem to overstay if you are up front about it. Edited to add: Come to think of it, dis-assembled mechanical contrivences seem to attract. If you're moored up with an engine in pieces you'll probably find a stream of well-wishers and those offering to help, so winter doesn't have to be so bleak....
  19. I guess it was more in hope than anticipation.... I'll mail them nevertheless and see what comes back.....
  20. Would it be an outrageous assumption to expect the likes of IWA, etc, to carefully scrutinise these accounts and then give us the synopsis of a letter we should be writing to our MPs?
  21. Remember a couple of months back there was a bit of traffic on here about BW mooring tender figures, some of which revolved around a bid of £6000 for a mooring in Marsworth? Did anything ever come of it or other seemingly OTT bids? Ref. Marsworth, I wondered if somebody had accidentally bid for the whole 3 years rather than p.a. and accordingly didn't complete? Haven't seen it re-listed so assume it went through.
  22. Hi Paul, Ignore my post - yes, it referred to the now removed item where the poster referenced a blog that alleged all sorts of boorish behaviour from BK. Mods, do you want to scrub it?
  23. Blimey, must have been a quiet day in Shipley....
  24. Those that need to ask the price need not apply....
  25. Hang on a minute, have we not just gone all the way round the block? I thought we'd pretty much deduced a long time ago that these things won't run in a sustained manner on 'canalside red'. The issue being that the marketing of them had erroneously led us to believe they could....
