  1. I was aware that a tag is requirement but thought that was the whole idea of the chip was that a tag was no longer mandatory. Ill have to look for a tag that is bit more durable.
  2. Control of Dogs Order 1992 Dogs must have collar and ID tag. Tag must show owners name and full address to be compliant. 8.5 million dogs in UK. 16 convictions in 2013 for incorrect or missing tag. Cricky, my dogs chipped but got fed up with replacing the tag - forever getting ripped off her harness.
  3. Seems that CRT's organisation of paper work has got a lot to be desired.

  6. It would not surprise me, but then again land registry is not infallible proof - I think that half the problem. I bet if you looked it up in the original canal documentation from when the canal was built it likely to be there somewhere.
  7. Existing ransom strip perhaps? I'm pretty sure CRT owns or at least a way leave in place a certain distance from the waters edge to allow access for maintenance.

  13. To quote the OP: "My friend was given a map by them last year showing the land boundary". assuming that this drawing includes the 4 meter of bank or so and was used as a basis to calculate the value of the lease then I think the onus is on CRT to sort out the problem on behalf of the tenant. If CRT is unable to find an agreeable solution then obviously some sort of compensation should be on the cards.

  15. I think the long and the short is the OPs friend purchased the mooring lease based on the understanding that it included a 4 meter strip of bank (as documented in a 'official' CRT drawing). Surely that is some sort of breach of contract? If so then the OPS friend should be entitled to some sort of recompense from CRT to reflect the loss of enjoyment? Very muddled legal situation - as boundary disputes generally are.

  17. Assuming I'm interpreting the ops friends situation correctly it seems that CRT could be charged with misrepresentation in the sense that they marketed a mooring with an alleged 4 meter width belonging to someone else. Can't blame the owner for exercising their boundary rights to be honest. Seems to me the next course of action is to negotiate with the landowner to try and remedy the situation. If the landowner is unwilling to play ball I think your friend is owed an explanation from CRT and possibly a refund of some of the lease value (assuming that is the agreement) Your friend would benefit from some proper legal advice particularly if the new fence hinders access..........

  19. As I understand it there are three basic versions of flooring, solid wood, engineered wood as Robbo has described, the top layer being a thin veneer of expensive wood, and printed mdf laminate. Some people would describe engineered as being inferior to solid but some types of wood don't work very well as a solid piece so engineered allows the use of a wider range of wood types that ordinarily wouldn't be available. As for printed MDF, from experience it doesn't last very long in a house let alone a boat - even the so called water resistant stuff - particularly near the door where it gets wet more often.
  20. If your not going to use engineered you might as well go the whole hog and lay best quality vinyl flooring. That's what we used. Really have to look up close to see it fake. In any case too water around for laminate it always lifts at the edges.
  21. Middle men have gotten to greedy in recent years. Folk starting to sell direct via social media such as face ache. Social media killing off a lot of specific interest forums - car based ones in particular I've noticed. Chances are it will get this one too in due course.
  22. I think its a hypothetical. But your right money can is often misappropriated within charity organisations. Problem is that they rely on voluntary input from people who may have loads of enthusiasm but lack business acumen. Have witnessed that personally.
  23. A pretty good summary of the current funding situation.
  24. I would have thought the Lapal is one of the more difficult schemes. Any easy restoration as far as California, but then there is the problem of the tunnel which Atkins advised was unviable. The plan now is to go over the top with a brand new cut.
  25. Would love to see foxton rebuilt just for the engineering marvel alone.
