  1. I am planning to leave the IWA festival and continue cruising for 7 weeks. I am planning to go up the T&M visit the Caldon arm. Then off up to the Ashton, down the Mac then onto the Shroppie then drop down on the BCN. Has anyone got any advice on where and more importantly where not to stop on the way. Any help would be appreciated Many thanks Steve
  2. Will be at IWA for the big day. So at least there will be a few people about and some beer
  3. Has anyone held a celebration for the 10th year on their boat, as I have just realised it will be 10 years for me on the same first boat. I feel I should mark it some way.
  4. I am suprised nobody has asked Bones, sounds like the next project
  5. I have a Zanussi Aqaucycle 1300, it is feed by the cold water system and can do a load in 1hr 10 mins. I do two to three loads a week and I have had problems in 2 years, in fact it is running now.
  6. I have a 3g dongle which I am using now, it works fine. I am on the 1Gb a month for a 10 a month
  7. As long as they are used right, its known as slippage, which give inaccurate readings.
  8. Speed guns are accurate, as they are calibrated and as long as they are used right, are presentable as evidence in court.
  9. You will suprised, how often they are either warned formally cautioned or taken to court. As now warranted officers on patrol launches can use speed guns to do speed checks on passing boats and action can be taken against anyone found breaching section 97 or the speed limit.
  10. Any boat found not navigating on the River Thames without due care and attention could be prosecuted under section 97. Recent actions by one boater found himself in court and recieving a large fine.
  11. Most moorings need some sort of planning permission, where ever it is, a boatyard, EOG just because you own the land does not give you carte blanche. Any moorings that spring up are noticed, even though it might takes some months for anything to happen. These are normally enforced by the local planning office. Some are more active than others. I have witnessed three moorings over the last few months being shut down as they had no planning permission. On the Thames local authorities are also beginning to realise they they have to manage there land as well. Moorings are becoming more and more scarce.
  12. I have a HR2 which has a plate on the engine which quotes HP at 27.5 HP at 2500 rpm
  13. Anyone know of a Corgi man who can fix gas leaks on a boat in the Abingon/Oxford area
  14. The key word is using your boat on the Thames. If makes no difference you are navigating or not. It is always not clear when using that term, however, spending the day, sleeping or similar things are using your boat. So be warned if your are using your boat on the Thames without a current licence your are committing a criminal offence and could be taken to court. There have been two recent prosecutions.
  15. I have my water tank where the gas locker is. It is brillant, easy to check levels. I can even fit in it to clean in, I even painted mine with bitumen. The gas locker is just behind it, which makes taking gas bottles out very easy as I can do it on my front deck.
  16. Was thinking some a little nearer, as I only have a few days to move boat. Was hoping for something south of Banbury
  17. Is there anyone near the Oxford/Reading area who can build a traditional boatmans cabin as I am thinking of getting mine down and how much would it cost
  18. Does anyone know where I can gat a heat exchanger for a my water heater as mine has cracked in this heavy freeze
  19. Slight problem in nicking someone else WiFi connection(not legal). I have "3" dongle which is great for general surfing etc 1Gb a month is more than an enough at £10 per month

  21. Reminds me of two things, good idea to remember if your sidehatch is open, esp if it opens onto your bed. The second, a lock keeper and his wife watching a couple getting friendly on the bench opposite their lounge. When they had finished, gave them marks out of ten for effort and style, they left in a hurry
