  1. Hi all, I have decided to go with a gravity system with one rad opposite the bathroom which is next door the bedroom and a header tank, not sure where to install the tank and should I connect the boiler to the chlorifier, or will this make me loose heat from the rad. Colin.
  2. Sue has your boat been spray foam insulated.
  3. Thanks to everyone, I think I will try the heater on its own, if its not good enough I will add another heater later. I had a propex on my dawn craft and that was pretty good, and very easy to fit. Thank again. Colin.
  4. Well that’s put the cat amounts the pigeons, my boat is spray foam insulation. How long is your boat, and dose it get warm all over. Colin.
  5. That as been a great help, thanks very much but I still have a few questions. The bedroom is open plane with no doors and the bathroom is on the opposite side to the heater, so I will have to come round the back of the boat to get to the bathroom rad. I was thinking of putting a pump on the end of the circuit turning it self on now and again, this would still allow the bedroom rad to circulate without the pump running. Also I wanted to fit a pressure vassal instead of a header tank, what do you think. Colin.
  6. Thanks Chris I will make note of what you have said, but if I get the cable already crimped will I still get them through the bulk head and a grommet. It may be better if I buy the crimper. Colin.
  7. I didn’t really want to by another heater, but what do you think about running a rad in the bedroom via gravity and one in the bathroom by pump working off a timer. I have got no mains hook up where I am so I need to save my batteries as much as I can.
  8. I am not sure of cable size I was going to ask in the shop, but the run will be about a metre. Yes that’s a good point about the fuses. Do you mean that I cant use the rcd or is it ok to connect the neutral to the boat.
  9. Hi all. I want to fit a morse squrrial to my 50ft boat which is 35ft inside the heater will be situated about 6ft from the front. The bedroom is at the back then the bathroom is next, the boat is open plan apart from the bathroom do you think I will need radiators or maybe a echo fan will do, what do you all think. Colin.
  10. Hi All. Thanks for all the information I have just got back on the computer, been away for a few days. I’m going to fit a 1000 watt inverter and a 300 watt inverter to run the TV DVD and cooker fan, the 1000 watt is just for tools and hair dryer. I’m going to run 150 amp cable from the battery to the isolator with a inline fuse connected on the positive. From the isolator I will go direct to the switched fuse box buzz bar and then to both inverters. The neutral will be connected from another buzz bar and go back to the negative on the battery. Both inverters will be protected by a r.c.d. which in turn protects me from getting a 240 volt shock. I have got 12v white led lighting, two pumps and a small amp for the Arial coming from the same fuse box, my other fuse box works the horn, headlight and navigation lights and is connected to my starter battery. By the way the boat is a sail away from lb so I have got a lot to do, any advise will be welcome. Colin.
  11. Hi Daniel, should I put the fuse near the batteries or the other side of the bulk head near the fuse box, and have you any suggestions what sort of fuse board I should buy.
  12. Hi all. I Want to install a 1000 watt inverter on my boat, what is the best way to do this. Do I go from the batteries to a fuse block and then to the inverter, or from the batteries straight to the inverter. Also what is the best way to connect the batteries to the fuse holder, do I go through some sort of connecting block first on the plus side and neg side. Dose anyone have any pictures or drawings. Thanks Colin.
  13. thanks for that it as been a great help.
  14. Hi Alex.yes i have got the guide but it dosent say anything abnout the negative, dose it go on the alternator or to the starter battery, or direct to the engine. and why have i got three spades if i only am connecting to two of them.
  15. dear all, i have just bought a liverpool boat with two alternators. the 110 amp is wired into the loom but i have got to fit my domestic batterys and do the final conections. i think b+ gose to the + of the battery and the white wire connects to one of the spades on the alternator, with the by connecting to the other spade. this leeves one spade with nothing connected, also whert do i connect the earth to . help please. colin.
