Is there much to do or see in Chirk apart from the castle?

We're going next year taking our daughter son in law and 2 granddaughters 6 and 10 all have never been on a barge before so we are really going to take our time to let them really enjoy it. I've never done this stretch of canal before so quite happy to go beyond Llangollen. This is the main reason I've joined this forum to get ideas and recommendations from you "pros". Approximately how long should it take to get from the marina at Ellesmere to the narrowboat inn? Any other suggestions for meal stops between Ellesmere and Llangollen
