  2. Such a confusing array of ideas here I hardly know where to start, but in reverse order: I have a porta-potti. Someone emptied your cassette for you VOLUNTARILY? You're SMOKERS, and yet are sensitive to smells???????????? Yes the brand does make a difference. I am not German. Cigarette smoke can make my nose wrinkle and my stomach heave at 100 paces (see above) Mac
  3. Well. Mine isn't (at all). What am I doing wrong?

  8. And then there's the technicolor barcode: On the Lark.
  9. Missed this thread when it started, because I was busy on Cygnet, an Owl Class boat built by the said Mick Sivewright. They will of course have different modifications of the fit-out, but Cygnet is extremely well-designed, and has been over most of the system in the past five years - perfect for me and my dog, but, as I say much to Mrs Mac's annoyance, too crowded when she and her dog join us. The (second) engine is a Vetus, but with the original water-lubricated stern gear. I just love it, and have met several others (all types of owl) equally loved. Mac Edited to say that even if the Gas fire was non-compliant, it certainly wouldn't put me off if everything else ticked the boxes. Replacing it with a small solid fuel stove wouldn't be difficult, and probably a lot cheaper to run.

  11. The very best of luck, but I was confused by your avatar, which is identical to that of Romarni123. You don't want a doppelganger, do you?

  14. Little Bollington is a good place to stop, with a very good pub (but a few hundred yards walk).

  18. This is usually because the full lock leaks into a nearby building. There are at least three locks on the Huddersfield Narrow with permanent signs to this effect. The owner of the lock cottage at Dobcross is on watch monday, wed & fri making sure this is done! Mac
  19. Just to highlight Johns's recommendation of Inline Filters .They have cross-referencing of just about any filter, with great customer service. You will need a filter product number, usually printed on the filter.
  20. Be more positive! This thread's got potential!
  21. This is from NBW, so I'm witholding judgment, but has anyone heard about this? Edited to say that I vaguely remembered someone posting about a couple of prosecutions in Belgium, but can't find it. Mac

  24. I'm not on the boat at the moment, so I can't look at the code, but in BW's eyes I'm a CC. But not in mine. I have a home mooring for 6 months of the year (same every year) and travel the system for 6 months. I started with CC status because I was 'between moorings' 5 years ago, and haven't told BW any different. Any reason why I should, while there is no separate CC licence? There must be a fair few people in the same situation. Mac
