  1. Hi You can have either 12V or 240V TV but it will plug into different sockets. At 12V (special two pin socket) it will run directly from your battery's - charged by your engine or a charger when plugged into a land line. 240V (13A socket)will have power directly from the land line, you should have a selector to switch the 13A sockets to the inverter when traveling. Alex
  2. I wouldn't have thought so. The link is very narrow and very shallow, the locks are wide but 57' narrow boats have to reverse into the last set of locks. Not easy as there is very little room due to silt build up. To be sure contact CArT in Wigan Alex
  3. Ring Sterling Power Product they are very helpful Alex
  4. Can any one convince me that the power consumption of a 12V fridge and telly is significantly better than the 240v models Alex
  5. Like this But don't forget you will have restricted head room. Wooden cratch's tend to have a 6" lift to increase head room. Alex
  6. I'm still convinced he will reappear as a director of the BWML. See if I'm not wrong Alex
  7. There comes a time in every engines life when it is finaly worn out. Twenty years for any engine seems to have been a good life. The time has come to totally rebuild the little beauty and look forward to another 20 years of use. Alex
  8. Could it be that the lack of or blockage of the engine breather - pressurising the sump and blowing the oil past the rings into the cylinder head? What engine is it and where is the breather? Alex
  9. You could try Shireoaks Marina on the Chesterfield but you could be waiting a while. Or Sheffield and Rotherham boat club in Rotherham. Alex
  10. Make sure you get a good float - I had one that kept sinking!!! Alex
  11. Me two, They built my boat 7 years ago and were more than helpful even though some of my requirements were 'a bit different'. Over 5 years later they carried out a repair to my roof FOC! That what I call a warranty. Alex See the Soar Valley plaque - worn with pride

  14. I've always found Limekiln Chandlers to very competitive. Try B&Q for showers - they do some with short doors, there's always a problem with height on boats. I fitted one of these but there is always going to problem with mounting it and room at the back for the pipe work. I made a SS plate to cross a corner and mounted it on that, just enough room for the pipes. Alex
  15. Just back from the Frog and Nightingale, either side of the bridge. Short walk to the town centre and close to Tesco. Bus directly to the zoo gate from central bus station in Chester. Alex
  16. I used 5 mm nylon tube, 50 mt reels can be bought quite cheaply from compressed air companies. It flattens when you lay the ballast on it leaving a 2-3 mm air gap. Alex
  17. Can I see three slots in the outer ring? Could this mean a special tubular tool is needed? Alex
  18. if you are going to buy it - buy the liquid, much cheaper per dose Alex
  19. You could have 57' built the same year on the River Lea, much nicer for not much more money - see my 'For Sale' See - http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=55724 Alex
  20. I wasn't for one minute suggesting any body might do this - but hey why not Alex
  21. Its just like letting your car (with a big soft bumper) roll slowly into a very strong garage - no harm done and it can only park its self Alex
