  1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lister-jp3-Wood-burner-stove-multifuel-Unique-/131655484703?roken=cUgayN O dear
  2. im in london. Can go anywhere really. Martyn was ace as per normal and has let me know why i couldnt find a liner puller, A hollow hydraulic ram is what i need. Sadly I cant remember the second bit you said as i was driving and may of got the first bit wrong too My excuse was that i was in the car driving. If youre reading this martyn what was it again?
  3. would there be amy benifit to running a descalling solution around the engine ? I used to do water treatment as a job so it wouldnt be hard to rig up a circulation pump and chemically renmove the limescale thats holding everything in place if that is the main reason its all set in there solid
  4. I always do listen to Martyn. Trouble is that i cant get hold of a proper lifter. Have posted on facebook boat groups, called hire shops, looked on ebay and of course on here. im running out of options. Cant believe for a special item there isnt a hire place that rents them. Just cant find the right shop at the moment
  5. advice so far away from this site is to get a round metal plate 15mm thick cut to the size of the liner. Machine it so there is a lip so it has a few mm inside the liner so when it pops up its got some control. Metal threaded quality studding and draw it up tight and leave overnight.

    liner puller

Does anyone have a Jp liner puller i can borrow? Happy to pick it up, give a deposit and give it back with a bottle of wine. Doesnt have to be in the south. I travel all over with my job. 07909520920
  7. i felt some crap in there but it was below the entry hole. Not above. Hopefully its there somewhere and comes out with the back flush. That all water stopped made me think it there or before as if was a pipe on head number 1 then 2 and 3 would still give a water flow i would of thought. Must be a common pipe to stop it all.
  8. Bit of an emergency as boats meant to be somewhere by thursday. JP3 is overheating. Water not coming out of skin fitting. Bullet points are. changed exhaust silencer not so long ago rngine ran 25 hours without incident. Happend before and fixed by bleeding from the cylinder drum valve thanks to marytn. hasnt run much but gone again. same symtoms. can feel a good pull from outside taken off pump and working well. Good spurt into the air taken off side pipe. water went everywhere. Felt inside engine block and could feel debris ran out of time. Questions. i am thinking that maybe the new (old) exhaust may of shed a bit of loose rust and its now blocking the engine. Does that make any sense? On the side of the block does the pipework head downwards as thats where i felt the bits. I couldnt retrieve as it was too hot. Does it split into smaller pipes and would it explain the blockage? Going to try a backflush tomorrow morning
  9. overherating JP3. Big thanks to marine power service for once again proving im a child in a mans world with that engine. Who else knew there was a breass bled valve on the drum?
  10. I think its a job for test match special once the cricket starts .
  11. my mate who knows about these things told me the same with the crome ring crome bore thing but couldnt remember which way around. So you have taught 2 people there martyn (and a few in here im sure) My engine started a bit better by the way however the first hour was a bit smokey which i expected as you had told me. The next day we nipped up the head bolts due to a tiny spot of water leaking and started it and now its really smokey. So i reckon i shall be taking it apart again which wont take long now i understand it and doing the liners.
  12. there is a jp3 on ebay if anyone is interested. Also an indian advert which ive not seen before. Steel jp liners. What is the opinion on non Crome liners?
  13. damn, cant find the timing marks on the flywheel. found a stamp but that was very worn and couldnt make out the serial number. All after the first hour of use which was fine, a bit smokey but as you told me i thought fine, it will settle. started it today and its smoking very badly. Considering my issue was bad starting but no smoke the engine is now worse after an oil change, head and valve refurn and new rings.
  14. story of my life martyn. I couldnt just have a jp could i was hoping that if i was a mix and match that maybe it was set up for the wrong one etc . by the sound of it that isnt going to be the case. Great advice with the flyweel. are they always stamped in the same place? not the most room at that end so a clue could save a sore back and all that
  15. if youre correct then i have a Jp with a jk indentity issue as it says jk but has changeover valves. and yes spill timing. Have read the manual and what shall i do with the statement that it depends on which make i have. With my engines indentity issue how do i tell it i have a 1200rpm or 1500 version ? as i also have rockers with grease points i guess i have the jp and therefore a 1200 version.
