  1. Hi Hugh have you got a video atal. The engine starts up perfect. Do you know anyone who has a manual and dimensions of the engine. It is a good engine but I need to try and do something with it
  2. I do have a massive understanding of how engines work. What there noises are, this engine is not designed for a pleasure craft / canal boat.
  3. They are big engines too, my head is battered 😩😂 I can't decide on what to do.
  4. I need to check.the measurements tomorrow The engines are just a noisy engine and because it's in a wheel house it's deafening. I'll check the width of the bearers tomorrow as well .
  5. It's on the bridge water canal. And it's a 1994 boat. I don't know of any other engines that I could use
  6. The the transit engine is a 4 cylinder. The bsd 3 cylinder is pretty much the same size the bsd is big lump, I'll give them a call tomorrow
  7. I've very good mechanically, Engine conversions in cars / lorrys are more my thing, I could easily install the fsd. I have to watch my budget, I have put a lot of money into boat. So I thought the fsd engine would be good and I can fix them, And there cheap. But reliable. It has a wheelhouse so I want something smoother
  8. Iam not very good on forums I tried to upload a video but the size was too big, it’s 12ft by 57ft just over 30ton widebeam. It’s going on canals, I created another post. Because a wasn’t sure if I replied by correctly.
  9. Hi a few guys on here have pointed me in the direction of removing my ford bsd333 i have a transit engine (fsd ) 60hp i want to use my gearbox which is 3.1 ( is this ratio to low? ) the prop is 24inch 3 blade ( Carnt remember the pitch) but I don’t want to change the prop. also does anyone have the adapter housing to fit the prm to the ford fsd. it’s a 12ft by 57ft at 32 ton, any help would be great
  10. The prop is around 24inch and it is a 3.1 prm260 I don’t want to change the prop. But would the fsd be a suitable engine to change it to? The prop is around 24inch and it is a 3.1 prm260 I don’t want to change the prop. But would the fsd be a suitable engine to change it to? The prop is around 24inch and it is a 3.1 prm260 I don’t want to change the prop. But would the fsd be a suitable engine to change it to?
  11. Hi I have a ford bsd 333 is there anything I can do to reduce the vibration around 600/700 rpm the mounts are new. iam looking at changing it to a ford fsd. ( does anyone have a flywheel housing for sale to a prm 260) the bsd is in a wheel house so it really noisy, could it be tappets/ injectors? I just want to smooth it out till I put the new engine in, the gearbox is 3:1
  12. Hi I am new to this 😂 I have a 12ft x57ft widebeam with a bsd333 engine in and a hydraulic prm gearbox, the engine is loud and shakey. I was thinking of converting it. And to possibly start building a conversion now ready for next year. I am pretty good at making things an working on engines so I won’t struggle to much. but I was wondering if anyone has ever fitted a land rover 200/300tdi engine it there boat.? These engines are bulletproof and are very reliable. Any advice would be brilliant. Thanks Darren
  13. thanks Alan I just thought it might we worth a try. I have got it do to 650 rpm but it’s very loud though
  14. hi Hugh I have the same engine in my widebeam, I think it’s been messed about with over the years, so I am trying to put it right. But what rpm would you recommend this to idle at. Someone had it at a 1000rpm on idle. Thanks Darren Hi Dave I have a widebeam with the same engine. Do you have to rev it up high? Also do you much vibration? Thanks Daz
