On the visitors licence form you will self declare that you have BSS etc. The charges are based on square metres and one week is cheaper than three days. Engines must be turned off in the locks.

Ps. You can apply online and print off.
PPs. Some lockies like narrowboats
Thanks for the replies.
I have a cable that allows the screen mirroring ( although more 4 downloaded programmes are barred from playing in it ). I saw the previous thread about BT but can't see any BT hotspots where I am.
I discount a mifi due to limited tethering limit.
My phone usually works well by a window (up to 4g ) but if I dissappear into my seat it will often go down to an H .
What I was looking for is a way to get a strong signal in the boat so that I can sit in my chair .
Paul
My current version of "unlimited internet" allows a paltry 4gb tethering. So I am after a specific set up that would allow me to pick up a 4g signal and rebroadcast it in the boat so that I can use my device to pick up catch up tv etc.
I believe that this would exclude a mifi device.
Any ideas / alternatives?
Thanks
Paul
Thanks . Unfortunately post numbers dont show in my phone but using the old fashioned tech and both hands I came to the post about finished fettling. I had assumed ( we all know how bad that is ) that spadefoot was talking about Potters Lock.
Good news.

Any update on Fobney... Need to pop down to the Thames next week. I bet the hire companies aren't too pleased. Signs displayed at Sonning earlier this week. Embarrassing for C&RT . I would have thought ( without any detail ATM)
Can anyone recommend a plant / shrub that would survive my complete lack of knowledge in this area that I could place on board that might survive if I didn't remember to water it regularly and wouldn't grow too large?
Thanks.

Problems around Kintbury.
Due to a failed cill on Lock 83, Higgs Lock, the canal is closed between Lock 84, Guyers Lock and Lock 81, Hamstead Lock until further notice.
An update will be re-issued on Wednesday 18th March at 12 noon

Wow.
The knowledge on here is great.
I have looked at the poste restante service and it seems they need a household bill as well as ID but that isn't something I would have access to after a while. What do you use?
Also I am tending towards a friend / relative as an alternative but is there and conflict for things such as car insurance?
If using Boatmail real address option doesn't that mean that loads of cars would be registered at that address?
Paul
Hi all.
Thanks for the advice. I had forgotten all about the Boatmail. I a on here for a nose daily but have little constructive to add
I will either be cc ing for the summer on the Thames if I get the summer lockie relief job and finding somewhere for winter or I may have found a place near Reading for summer.
Paul
I have done a search but can't find much.
I will be moving back aboard but will generally not have access to a postal address.
I am sure that I have read some posts on this but can't see them so can I ask for some alternatives.
Thanks.
Paul
I like that idea.
There are some here.

With no taps running and the conditions I mentioned above the pump switches itself on for a second or two.
No change to normal operation when running taps .
Paul
Edit to add that it happens every hour or two. Except I turn pump off when I get in bed.
