  1. No ours is definitely only 1/2" but a different thread to the white insert in the illustration. I was hoping there might be choice of different inserts for different threads. Looks like I might have to go for Martin's solution. Thank you both. David
  2. I've got a hozelok hose system which works fine everywhere we've been on the canals but it won't fit the bib-tap in my back garden. It connects to CART taps with one of these:- and although it seems to be the right size for our garden tap, it appears to have a different thread. Any suggestions? thanks David

  7. We've got a door off to the right hand side with a sliding hatch over. No steps on the stern deck (Cruiser stern) but 2 wooden steps inside the cabin. I don't like the external steps referred to above. We get on well with our arrangement - or perhaps we've just learnt to live with it! David
  8. Congratulations from Ann and I too Smudge. well done! David
  9. Good to hear any news of ChrisJW. Much missed on here. David

  12. I've seen mink "surfing" while feeding on the floating body of a dead carp at least 18" long
  13. I was amused to see your post just now was followed immediately by one reading "Sounds like a bag of Spanners"!
  14. Are you talking about a banjo head? If so look here:- http://www.banjohangout.org/archive/104323 My experience has been that pre-made head/hoop combinations of this size are hard to come by from someone like REMO, and even if you can get one it won't fit inside the tension lugs on the instrument properly. If it's an old banjo then fitting a replacement vellum is the way to go. Soak it stretch it on, let it dry, then trim off the excess. When buying a vellum allow an extra 3" to actual diameter to allow for "lapping". A 10" vellum likely to cost you about £24. David And yes, Aquila are the business when it comes to Uke strings.
  15. If you have large hands/fingers you might be better with a tenor, there's more room between the frets, and the string spacing is slightly greater. We sell tenors from £49. A £20 soprano Uke is a great starter instrument. If you want to spend more then make sure you get a solid topped instrument not plywood - again from around £40. David
  16. No Mike this one was at Denham Deep. Thanks to everyone for their replies, After looking at Bazza'a post and the link, I'm going for the Mandarin option. David
  17. Can any one identify this little duck who visited our boat last week? Our bird book doesn't help. thanks David
  18. We're off from Tring starting Monday 10th. Bishop's Stortford here we come! Give us a wave and a toot. David and Ann
  19. "Far too many ........ "Rallentando"s, (sorry Lady Muck and Bullfrog for the latter, but there are!....)" Oi ! Alan there are only 7, don't exaggerate, and 2 of those have only appeared since we named ours. I innocently thought "numb" belonged to a retired dentist! And "Piper" could just as well refer to a chapter in Wind in the Willows. More watery than musical.
