  1. Any one else see this one or is this a double post? (If so Mods please merge) https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Luxury+yacht+crashes+into+Richmond+Bridge+in+front+of+crowds+enjoying+the+warm+weather&client=firefox-a&hs=uTu&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=univ&tbm=nws&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=_TYoU_6ZKsvo7Abd7oDQBg&ved=0CCwQqAI&biw=1366&bih=664 On a more general note is the Thames (and the K+A) back to normal after the flooding?

  4. Thank you G+F and Taslim, I will probably try your suggestions first. It seems that oxalic acid is a major component of the Liberon product so that seems the way to go. As for Mike T's suggestion - I had considered this. I would have to fit a full width strip of ply cos the discolouration has come out along the seams of two panels for the full width of the boat. I could then edge the patch with mahogany strip as is used at every panel joint on the boat. I'm not sure about mirrors in the ceiling (very Hotel California), it's right over our guest's bed and they might get the wrong idea! Thanks again David
  5. Just had our first visit to our boat after all this foul weather, wind and driving rain. So the Omnimax aerial on our boat's roof has been leaking water through a perished gasket around its foot. I've already sealed the gap with silicon sealant, but we now have black staining along 2 seams in the light-oak faced ply that forms the cabin ceiling just below the leak. Will this go away when it's had chance to dry out? If not, is there any thing I can do short of replacing both panels? Look forward to some helpful suggestions. Thanks David
  6. If this material is as heavy as you say, how do you attach to the underside of decks, hatch-covers etc. without it sagging off?
  7. Our local RadioSpares went like that. Claimed it was to avoid litigation if they recommended the wrong bits. Service?
  8. One brilliant sunny weekend on a friends boat (God knows what might have happened in bad weather). 4-5 weeks lurking on here, then placed the order for our new-build in Nov 2004 took delivery Mar 2005. We are only weekenders and holiday makers but we have never regretted any of it. David
  9. From cowroast down the k+a to bath in may, then back again in june. david

  17. Someone asked this on here some years ago. I seem to remember the answer was to be very careful since many are treated with a preservative including, I think, isocynates. David
  18. In our case the smell came whenever the handvalve on the bottle was opened. The regulator worked fine on another bottle. Points to something being wrong on the bearing surface on the bottle receiver.
  19. Not so. I had exactly Starry's symptoms with a new gas bottle. Problem was obviously bottle related 'cos it went away when changed for another new bottle. I returned the offending item to the original vendor who refused to credit since it was months since the original purchase. I argued that most users would be unlikely to use bottle same day since we are usually buying to replace the spare. He still wouldn't budge until I suggested we continued discussion with a Trading Standards Officer. Bottle was then replaced with a good one - which was what should have happened without the argument. No repeat problems since. David
  20. Yep that was us. We had a prop tip bent at 90 degrees the last 1.5 inches during the season before our stern tube started leaking, New prop fitted but tube continued to seep until treated as above. John reckoned the ingress of mud and other particles suspended in the leaking water, and corrosion, would re-seal the thread inside the tube.
  21. That's exactly what I did on mine. Lots of self-amalg tape and a blooming great jubilee clip at each end. This was recommended by John Orentas - remember him ? John also said that the seepage would probably heal up with time, and he was right. Ours now completely dry. david

  23. Any idea where you can source these different inserts/adaptors? Hozelok themselves don't seem to have them on their site and retailers don't have a clue.
