  1. Hooray I was beginning to think everyone had been hoodwinked. It always has been a con.
  2. If the base of the gas locker is raised a smaller gas bottle may be needed.
  3. We used a water filler deck fitting in the forepeak. The rotary drier poll just slotted in.
  4. Our skylight was over the shower tray.

First mate guides used to be useful with this information
  8. I remember when hand tools were the norm. You really don't need 240v on a boat. Life is much simpler without it.
  9. Try a fortnights holiday in winter and see how you both enjoy boating. You will learn a lot and get answers to some of your questions
  10. They lived in a house not a bungalow.
  11. Why are cars painted the same colour as roads? Surely they should be a bright colour so they can be seen.
  12. Keep a landbase you will need it one day. Have fun . We went down the buy second hand first We sold it for the same as we bought it for as we decided we wanted an extra 10 ft. We also fitted it out ourselves.

  14. After having to leave our boat due to my husbands ill health I would definitely recommend buying a land base. There is no security of tenure with a mooring and you can be told to leave at anytime, no reason given. Why do you want boats? They are hard work with all effluent, rubbish, fuel and water having to be serviced regularly. Factor in muddy towpaths and dragging shopping along them. Electricity has to be carefully managed. Good luck
  15. You've still got to store them somewhere. At least with a pumpout you have a neatly built in tank
  16. Pump out every time. Carrying a heavy container out of the boat and to the nearest elsan every couple of days is not my idea of a non event. We lived onboard for 25 years with a pump out and never wanted to change.

  19. I'm so pleased we kept our house. We lived for 25years on our boat and then Hubby had a stroke. One day cruising, the next hospitalized. We sold the boat and house and have a very convenient bungalow. It's now 8 years on and I dread to think what life would have been like without that option. Hubby would have been trapped all this time inside a narrowboat stuck in a marina.

  22. I removed some from my friends rubber wood table with t-cut.
  23. We have many memories of them with antics with wrg. They always took the sabotage in good part.
  24. Equity release salespeople aren't the only people who try to hoodwink the elderly. Salespeople of equipment for the elderly and disabled are the same. Try buying a rise and fall chair. Most sellers haven't showrooms you can visit. They bring a chair and try to talk you into buying one. The price can alter during the visit.
  25. To kill the wildlife they profess to be so keen on.
