  1. Evening all,

if anyone is around the Giffard Park area in Milton Keynes, the police have closed the towpath, red route on the offside, and i can only assume navigation aswell between the Giffard Park pub, and the next bridge southbound.

I hope not, but wonder if it is related to this:

    Giffard Park clicky

Guess we'll find out in a few days.

  2. I agree, we are with direct line £40 for 4 cats / month. We got our cats as rescue kittens. when they went to be neutered and spayed, two of them came back and showed signs of illness. after a day or so, we realised they weren't recovering, and took them to the vets. after some tests they were diagnosed with acute kidney failure, due to the combination of drugs they had.I had to rush them to the Royal Vet College hospital's Intensive care unit near South Mimms, with a 90 - 95% chance they wouldn't make it.

Thank god they survived, and are now fighting fit terrorising the neighbourhood again, but i would have been left with a £3500 bill which i didnt have at the time. So as much as i can see why people wouldn't want to pay for it, my personal thoughts are do it, you never know what is going to happen, and how severe it may be.

I hope you get it sorted!

    Kind Regards

  3. Yes it must be becoming a burden to them, now they are based abroad.

If I was looking for something "unsuitable", I'd be tempted by Orion.

I keep looking at Orion and thinking she'd make a great shortened butty for judith ann, with a bit of a rebuild at the back! Unfortunately, even at that price it's out of my budget!

  4. Themis is a recent deconversion, having been converted twice in her past. First was in the 1950s as a BWB trip boat (Water Kelpie), then as a private cruiser/home.

As a past owner, I feel it's a real shame that she's been added to the massed ranks of highly-restored ex-working boats when she had a real period history of her own. I'm not sure why the present/recent owner decided to deconvert and then sell on so quickly. I believe he posts here occcasionally so may be able to offer enlightenment, I know there is the opposing view that 'the more the merrier' in terms of shiny ex-working boats.

    Hi Tim,

It helps if I had added deconverted into my post!!!!! Thanks for making it make more sense!!!

  5. Hi Joseph there have been many, the one I know of is GUCCco small woolwich butty Meteorwhich was converted, rather badly in 2004, then deconverted a couple of years ago, there is a thread in the ether of history and heritage regarding her. The other one is possibly Themis? Sure more will be along shortly.

  6. Can I add Milton Keynes? Often derided, it has a great array of restaurants, bars, pubs, theatre, red light district, all of which can be reached with a short uphill walk from the canal.

Fenny Stratford, just to the south, has a number of gay, lesbian and transgender clubs within close proximity.

    Take your pick.

    A great theatre! 

  7. Excellent, lets do it!

    - I might tag into whatever the YWBS are doing as im sure there will be an entry.

    - However failing that, and time/boat dependent, whats the bonus for a steamboat?

    Daniel

Work dependant, if you need an extra pair of hands, I could be available!

    Edit for numpty fingers!!

  8. I agree with Carl, ice boards or planks are the way to go in this situation, it's all about dynamic risk assesment, and, like most things in life being proactive about the situation rather than being reactive, especially where wooden or fibreglass boats are concerned. There is also the possibility that movement of the boat due to occupation can scratch the blacking off which could be mis-construed as a moving boats' fault, and then the unfortunate moving boat is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Regards

    Dan
