I have one in my collection. An excellent piece of kit but pricey, it also has to be co planer between the workpiece and shaper tape. When it works its excellent but can go wrong if lighting is slightly dark or it loses its positioning by not seeing the tape.
I see this as a standalone unit and not as a replacement to a bench cnc router, as both work in different ways. Another nice feature is how it recognises colour lines for different cut styles, whether it cuts on the line, inside or outside the line or whether it is a full pocket cut, all based on drawing colours.
A downside is it works with .svg files so you can't directly import a .dwg or .dxf from autocad, but open source like inkscape is fine or affinity designer for example.
Kind regards
Dan

Yeoford has moved on and is having an extensive rebuild at Kemps'

I seem to also remember Yeoford being paired with Argon as well, and Collingwood with Ash.

yes correct, thankyou for clarifying that before i did,for the diehards that dont know aswell,it still retains its original motorboat swim and sternpost right up to the uxter plate area.so still a full motorboat.
And a nice prop......

It'll be sold within the week. A cracking boat at that price.

Was the grease refilled, and pumped in to the gland until you could see it?

Sadly agree, there are a few around, see the historic boat register, and there are a couple not on that that I have seen, one possibly a Dobsons boat on the N Oxford.

I believe some early Dawncraft boats were wooden hulled and some of them may still be going. There are one or two Taylors boats too I believe still. I wonder if some are stored in barns or garages.
A lovely pair of Holt Abbott cruisers, I think they may be the last two remaining?

I wonder if there will be a similar posting about the one at the top of Buckby, I assume its still there full of Gardner engine bits
CRT have been trying to action Ariel for a while as its over a year since she was moored, sorry, dumped there.

I agree, too many were lost over that time. I do hope Hesperus and Ariel can be saved but I think they're a few years past it now sadly. I would however happily provide a home for the ironwork if it ever came to it.

Ariel. Another victim of Frost damage

I stand corrected, thanks.
No worries. It's always tricky when two old boats are next to each other. Hardy is the one with a cabin and up. Hesperus was without a cabin and more down than up.....
-
Hardy is at Banbury under Tooley's care, Hesperus was there for docking and sealing works by Tooleys for the current custodian who, even owning 2 wooden boats has no clue about wooden boats and how to look after them sadly.

Has the boat not been out the water at all in this time? Docking is not just about the standard of the paint, it is to check the prop, shaft, rudder and bearings, anodes etc........ I'd have it out and check it all over. Even with epoxy I'd still look at docking every 3 years. May as well check the 2 pack whilst it's out!!
Kind regards

It popped up on my Facebook memories last week ironically that we went to Pigeons Lock to look at her. That was 11 years ago.
-
In that condition yes.

A shame it was done to two boats if that's the case. She's crying out to be loved, rebuilt and put back into working trim. Not many Nurser butties around which retain the majority of their lines??

I too remember Hazel at Pigeon's Lock for months, but this was only five or six years ago. I seem to remember seeing about a four foot section of the hull being cut away amidships on one side by someone to get an Aga or similar out of the boat. Or that may have been a dream as there seems to be no evidence of this in the photos.
Or maybe that was the other Hazel. There are two wooden Hazels IIRC.
I think that was on the Lee and Stort and was Big Ricky Taunton??
-
It is indeed Hazel. Due some serious planking work I think. When mum and dad raised her at Trent Lock in 1993 there were some soft planks then which were still evident when we looked at her at Pigeons Lock about ten years ago. Tenner they're still there

100 years old....... hmm....... fingers crossed she finds a sympathetic home.

My confidence in Towergate and their underwriters had somewhat plummeted this week as my renewal has gone up £165 and they wanted to know what type of engine i had in my butty.
Michael Stimpson will be getting a call.

I have been following the rebuild of Hydrus/Raven, but 107k is on the steep side for her I feel.

I am still only using my phone to access the net so cut and paste, while probably do-able is beyond me.
What happened was a beautifully turned out little pride and joy cruuser called Fern had set off from the pub and it was their bridgehole. I did not witness this but numerous people did and confirmed the cruiser was actually in the bridgehole when the pair who were travelling unreasonably fast approaching moored boats did not attempt to slow at all and actually forced the cruiser back out of the bridge hole and sent them icrashing into the hedge and reeds at the side. this was accompanied by an extremely long blast of his horn which is what alerted me to the drama. The smaller boat was crewed by a couple who were not spring chickens and it must have been very frightening for them. The pair carried on past the moored boats without slowing and someone on the pub balcony shouted "you lost your waterskier" The reply from the skipper was "I'll show you speed" and he opened the throttle right up sending a wave of water over the stern deck of a boat where the engine cover was open and an engineer was working on the electrics.
The engineer lept off and ran along the towpath remonstrating with him as he unleashed a volley of vile, uneccessary foul language back at the top of his voice. As he came level with Tawny Owl yhere were a group of 7 forum members who had been eating Sue's cake By the time he reached us he was incandescent with rage and his temper was probably not helped by 7 forum members all laughing at him. Of course it was not funny at all but at the time it seemed the best way to fight his bullying. I cannot be sure but the person steering the butty looked extremely young and was working hard to control it as it lurched from the skippers exaggerated use of the throttle and tiller at speed. Some poor woman passenger int
he bow was covering her ears as they passed. I feel so very sorry for paying guests. Basil Fawlty never had a foul mouth!
I am told that if suffucient complaints about a boat with a trade licence are recieved by CART then they will revoke the licence. I am amazed this guy still has his licence. Maybe after those who witnessed his agressive and dangerous behavour on this occasion all place their complaints he may not.
Interestingly I am told one of the witnesses was a reporter from Towpath Telegraph.
@cheshire~rose 10 years on I've found the post..... A pointless post resurrection but still things like this should be remembered!

8 minutes ago, ditchcrawler said:Price negotiable - this is a low price for a QUICK SALE - SOLD AS SEEN.70ft historic wooden-hulled narrow boat, 'Benevolence', currently moored opposite St. Edward's School on the canal in North Oxford. The mooring is an Agenda 21 mooring and can be passed on to the new owners.Wooden-hulled boats are not for the faint-hearted - they need constant care and attention - and lots of money. However, for the right buyer this could be a wonderful boat in an ideal location. This is an opportunity to purchase a residence in Oxford for a fraction of the cost of an affordable home in the area. Could be a beautiful restoration project for someone with an interest in historic boats, but equally could be updated.Boat safety certificate outstanding - work needs to be done such as replacement of log burner, but we're out of funds so unable to complete the work.I am managing any enquiries on owner's behalf due to her difficult personal circumstances. Quick sale preferred as the funds are needed elsewhere and after 22 years of ownership it's time to pass her on to a new owner who has the time, skills and funds to look after and enjoy her. Please DM me if you would like further information or to arrange a viewing. Only serious enquiries please.Video from 2019 - https://youtu.be/HS-jLdI6fZoMore photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xVsRxMVFUxAUVNds7#narrowboat #oxford #narrowboatforsale #houseforsaleoxford #boatforsale
I seem to recall seeing posts where the seller was reluctant to have the boat moved for a survey........
