  1. It's a pavers maul, used for smacking theatre show floors around...... all the knees have drain holes in, inset by an inch so we can get a tight and accurate reference point at the chine.
  2. A few further photos of the work over the past few days. We can now see the shape in its entirety, hopefully today we can tack the bow on......
  3. I can't believe it's been over 3 years since my last post! We've finally laid the baseplate and hopefully will make some progress over the next few weeks, weather dependent, covid and work have very much got in the way of moving forward with this..... She will be on display at the forthcoming rally at Langley Mill in a few weeks if anyone is visiting.
  4. give Tom a call at Langley Mill Boatyard, he's great with Kelvins. O1773 76o758. Kind regards Dan
  5. although, in the advert mentions "On hardstanding at our yard in Chester" so could be an employee of CBS maybe...

  7. Yes possibly. There is a move afoot that some of us feel an Anderton horse boat replica may be a nice thing to have on the water.. glad to hear all is well.
  8. Hi Bill. I hope all is well on the Ashton? A couple of us were chatting the other day about Anderton horse boats. Am i right in thinking the ironwork for "Medic" is the only known set of Anderton horse boat ironwork that exists in a complete form, that you know of? Norway project is still ongoing....... but moving forward! Kind regards Dan
  9. Any local fabricator could knock one up, but Redshaws at Braunston have done some of these previously for other brands. Failing that, give Simon or Dave a call at Brinklow.
  10. AJ's company was / is Unusual Rigging who's headquarters is behind the pub at Bugbrooke by the railway. As well as the specialist projects of which there have been hundreds, they are the UK's leading theatrical rigging supplier working on the majority of major and minor shows in the UK both on tour and in the West End. His loss was a great loss to the entertainment industry, he has been honoured at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which underwent a multi million pound refurb and restoration, for which he was involved in the backstage engineering upgrades. Kind regards Dan
  11. that is corect, Parsons marine engines (parsonsmathwaymarine.co.uk) There is a typo on the Goosander which lists the base engine as an AS4, not produced, should be an AS1! Kind regards Dan
  12. Hi all, all i can add is that Brinklow were involved of the removal and re-siting, i thought she had ventured out towards Tuckeys?? maybe and that she was in safe hands. Kind regards Dan
  13. Parsons took base engines from other manufacturers and marinised them. In this case the Armstrong Siddeley AS2, which they marinised under the Parsons Merganser name. Most fully marinised AS engines will have the Parsons plate on, i think it's an AS2M stamp on it. Many others have taken industrial AS2s and marinised them but subtle differences make them stand out. They also used AS1 (Goosander) AS3 (Peregrine) and a Ford (Pike?) They also produced petrol paraffin models, the D4M I believe. Kind regards Dan
  14. 2 ex hotel boats, 1 x ex BCN day boat, 1 grand Union butty, a wooden bcn tug, a 35ft cruiser stern and the remains of 2 wooden boats on the bank.
  15. All good here, all things given!! Hope you're all doing OK?
  16. If you're really lucky they'll fix it. If you're just lucky they'll tell you it's buggered and point you in the direction of their sister company selling refurbished gearboxes. If you're unlucky they'll tell you the engine is buggered, and sell you a rebuilt engine they've just dug out a hedge. Do you know where its leaking from, is it a seal.or the casing itself? Kind regards Dan
  17. Any update on this, must be a few planks in by now.........
  18. If anyone is passing near Langley Mill and is genuinely interested, pop in the yard and I can show you it working.. give me notice mind!
