  14. I suspect it was to do with 'cleaning the plugs' on high performance petrol engines. A final burst to get the electrode hot and burn off any oil from idling making the next start easier Doesn't make any sense on a diesel Richard

  17. There's another trick which you told me about, to do with having to pump the lift pump while cranking The 1.8 on the other hand seems pretty easy to bleed Richard
  18. The 1.5 pump is a complete pig to bleed Richard

One of the heads on an industrial has a machined face with four studs and a water outlet. This is the one at the fuel pump end of the engine I have yet to work out all the core plug variations on JP heads Richard
  20. Interesting, i haven't come across those yet. There are definitely two types of plug on these B type engines but they have different threads Richard
  21. Your memory is correct, 0.8 litres - it's in the link in my post: Richard
  22. I can help with this. I would still check the resistance of the glow plugs first, and take them out. Tony has been kind and left out the fact they are very fragile and break easily, so go careful Richard
  23. No, it isn't easy to replace. The 1.5 is annoyingly sensitive to getting the timing right When you crank the engine, how long does it take before you get white smoke at the exhaust? And - I'd check your heater plugs first Richard
  24. Correct - it is a specification. PRM say your gearbox will use ATF Dextron II or III For instance: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/gearbox-oil/halfords-automatic-transmission-and-power-steering-fluid-dii-1l-724930.html Richard
