  1. So there was a fuse next the the switch (on same socket if that makes sense and I’ve just changed it and it’s working now. Does that mean the fuse on the control panel is irrelevant. Sorry, I’m soooo tired and desperately need a shower. I’ll have to check this out more tomorrow once I’ve had some food and sleep - it’s been a long day. I was going to give up but so glad we’re sorted now. 🤗 Thanks so much!!
  2. Hi. The fuses are all fine thanks. They are all lit and I’ve checked the shower pump fuse and it’s good. Would it make any difference that I’m not in mains hookup? Baffled.
  3. Yes, there is a switch near the shower and it’s working. I can’t get in touch with the brokerage where I bought the boat from as I don’t have the owners telephone number to hand. Not working sorry
  4. Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can offer me any advice. I picked up my boat yesterday and started the 100 mile journey to her new home. Everything was working fine, but I’ve just come to get a quick shower and the shower pump isn’t working. Everything is switched on at the control panel and it was working when the the previous owner showed it to me last week, but nothing. I am moored up at the side of the canal, so not on a hookup, would this make any difference? I ran the shower, before attempting to put the pump on, now I have water sitting in the base. Any ideas, feeling stressed after a full day of it. Cheers guys x
  5. Ok thank you. If we were to potentially leave it till next spring, would it do any damage between now and then leaving the hull exposed? It’s been power washed and looks like it could do with it. I don’t want to cause the hull any potential damage for the sake of getting away a week early. So I have three options, let the marina black it which will not allow us the enjoy the boat before my son gets back to school, black it ourselves if the marina will allow, or leave it till spring time.
  6. Thanks everyone for your comments so far. I am a complete novice as far as narrowboats are concerned, but I am learning all the time. I am contemplating doing the blacking myself, purely to save time and get it back in the water, that way depending on the weather we could be on our Merry way by Thursday next week. I can source the blacking and kit and may even find it an enjoyable process, given a bit more research and hopes that the yard allow me to do this.
  7. Hi there, I’m looking for some advice/guidance. We had a pre purchase survey done of our boat today, a 51ft 2006 cruiser stern and it is really in good condition, but it has been recommended that we have it blacked and some additional anodes putting on. We are going ahead with the purchase, but I have a bit of a dilemma. So the Marina can arrange the blacking and we have asked the engineer at the boatyard about putting anodes on which he can, but this is going to take time, a week or more and we were really wanting to make the most of the remaining summer holidays having a big journey ahead of us to get her to her new home (100miles). My question is, will it be detrimental if we wait and get the blacking and anodes done at its new destination. The local dry dock can fit us in mid October. I realise I may be being eager, but really want to do the journey at a leisurely pace with our son before he goes back to school and not rush coming up to the end of August which will be stressful. Thoughts/ideas/comments please 🤗
  8. That makes great sense and something I will definitely look at doing. I’m very new narrowboating and everything that goes with it, but want to try to do as much of the work ourselves as we can. The 1412 is being delivered on Monday - yay, I can’t wait to see it in the flesh. I want to be as prepared and knowledgeable as possible before attempting. So single walled flu with a twin adapter with a length of insulated (huge) flue going out the roof? Sounds good.
  9. Thanks. Single skin flue it is. I was looking at the Soliftec guide and it says insulated flue pipe so wanted to see if it is really necessary.
  10. I have another question if that’s ok. I have decided to go with the Morso 1412, because it’s defra approved and should the boat ever make it into a smokeless zone all will be good. I want to know if I need to go with the large insulated flu pipe? It looks huge.
  11. I’d love to see a pic of your burner and location. I’m still really undecided as to where it will be best placed. I see the pros and cons to both to be honest but would like to have a visualisation of the central installation on a boat similar size to ours.
  12. sounds very interesting. That made me laugh out loud - “it will cook us” hahaha. It’s a catch 22 isn’t it, I don’t mind a cool temperature in the bedroom, but my son will be sleeping in a sofa bed in the saloon
  13. Completely agree. I’m just going off the spec on Morso website. It does seem strange. I’ve never done anything like this before so it’s all new to me.
  14. Will have a look at that, but on the technical spec is says the 1430 needs to have 600 mil clearance from the back, but the 1412 is 100, did you have any issues with that?
  15. Hi all, I’m really sold on the Morso Squirrel, but really not sure which model. The 1410 & 1412 are fairly similar in price but I don’t know what the differences are and if anyone can recommend a particular model. Size wise the 1410 is good.
  16. Thanks guys. I spoke to Eddie at Boatman today, great fella. Waiting for him to confirm he can fulfil more orders. The prices of iron have tripled so he is struggling at the moment 🥴
  17. Thanks guys. Yes he seems locals to me so might drop him an email and arrange to go have a look. I love the look of the Boatman
  18. My husband can do a lot of the work, but we’ve not looked into the regs. I’m sure we will have to get it commissioned/checked.
  19. That’s very useful info. Thank you 😊 Thanks very much. They’re not far from me either!
  20. Thank you. It is not the only heat source, it has Webasto central heating, but intend on using this for when it’s really cold and mainly using the burner. I have changed my mind about where to place it as by the doors doesn’t seem like a popular option if there is a choice.
  21. Hi everyone 👋 I’m really new to narrowboats but hopefully will be completing the purchase of our first very soon subject to survey. She is a 51ft cruiser and I really want a wood burner/stove. Any tips on what I should be looking for. Open to suggestions as I want to get it right and be all cozy in the winter. Thank yooooo
