blackrose thanks for your reply. I agree that remote control less useful for many but arriving at 8pm on a cold Friday evening it would be good for me and a great start to a weekend on the boat.

With the gate opener system does the existing webasto controller still work?

Thanks for all the advice. Loddon's solution seems attractive and considerably cheaper than the Webasto text version (nearly £300) but marina signal may be a problem. Shame about the 230v but probably best way to go in absence of an alternative 12v option.
