  1. I answered one of your posts a few years ago telling you that around 1967 my father rented "Myiscus". As it's still the case I thought I 'd say it again! 😋 Do you know her demise or outcome?
  2. The hull itself "appears" tackle'able. The cabin is merely a consumable once it's got to that stage. What happens now she's out will dictate the future and timeframe. Is the counter block likely to fall off? What about the lump? Is that castle nut locked on with a pin, although the blades look like tiddlers? Are questions that spring to mind when sitting in the warm behind my keyboard. Other questions are available ... 🫤
  3. What type of insurance are intending to cover the boat? Full cover or comprehensive will demand a satisfactory survey report.
  4. Although Seaford was well known for passing through locks sideways, I've taken the liberty of altering it to the more common method. Mainly for the convenience of those not in the know, and of course at the cost of authenticity.
  5. I also had a 19ft Dolphin. Sorry, that is not one whatever the length.
  6. Angle grinder. They're likely to break anyway, or if they get so skanky as to seize up why would you want to put them back on? You want, ideally stainless or at least galvanised.
  7. If it's 500 pieces then I imagine it's on his backroom table.
  8. Yes of course you should always know the level of oil on the dipstick, and be aware that if it's creeping up the level then that's bad and an indicator that fuel may be leaking internally. However, I noticed that you mention a change of filters a week ago. I'd also be tempted to check for air in the fuel filter. Show us a photo of the top of it and we can point out the bleed screws if you don't know them. I imagine your fuel tank is higher than your engine and don't need a pump (mechanical or electrical) to supply fuel to the engine.
  9. Could it be that it looked awful bending the wrong way And good taste prevailed?
  10. Oh I totally agree with you 🫤. Lincolnshire has more access to water than many other counties, and consequently has a need for a marine unit which includes emergency services, divers, inflatable boats and crews. Why drag so many of them out because a man got into trouble? What do you think the headlines and the self opinionated would have had to say if the unfortunate boater had died or suffered a more serious experience when the resources were there ... but not fully utilised? How do you know he wasn't only rescued because of "two fire engines, four divers, water rescue, at least 8 police and high street closed." ? Just a thought, which is something I suggest you didn't spend much time doing.
  11. I thought we ascertained years ago that "narrow boat" is the correct description and that "narrowboat" is a recent invention following the arrival of comics like Waterways World, Canal & Riverboat et al.
  12. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  13. Even if money was no objective it couldn't be my dream. Not with slab sides like that, it only needs "Light Spreadable" across the back.
  14. Peter Thompson of "Lister" and Uxbridge fame once told me in the 80s. When it comes to prop clearance, the most common profile of wood jettisoned into the cut and therefore most likely to try to pass between prop tip and uxter is 2 X 4. So 4" clearance is recommended.
  15. Available now on TEMU for the born again boatman. Rivetted Trilby Hat. Cast from the best Drop Forged Papier Mâché. Those interested also looked at ... USB powered Red Neckerchief, complete with Scumbled hem and Flash Drive socket. Get yours today and be the first on your mooring.
  16. I know of at least one bridge (Trent & Mersey) that won't get under.
