  1. Only addition to 10% deposit is bow thruster or 240v generator costs up front.and all our boats are bespoke. Everybody wants something different Correct we have about £500 k invested in the project. It does however give comfort to clients when they are not able to oversee production regularly. I have been trying to build a stock/show boat for 12 months but all are sold before the 12mm base plate goes down ! I've now started to renovate one of my own boats (FMC Stafford) which will act as a 'show' boat.
  2. REMEMBER If it was easy everybody would be doing it !
  3. At Narrowcraft only 10% deposit by way of the clients commitment is required. Balance being due prior to signwritting. All business is conducted in accordance with BMF terms and conditions otherwise.
  4. At Narrowcraft we fit fuel gauges as standard It very easy to do during construction We also now fabricate 2 fuel tanks in anticipation of the impending fuel duty change so heating oil can be kept seperate from drive train fuel.
  5. repeat was on the keyboard repeat was on the keyboard
  6. Call in and see David Blagrove at Stoke Bruerne He spent the late 70's and most of the 80's pumping her out before South Midlands's Clover replaced her. Search for Stoke Bruenre pictures as it will appear on most of them during this period.
  7. Try www.narrrowboat.co.uk Many purchasers here or marina moorers are part time uk
  8. The one important thing (some experienced single handler would disagree) DO NOT have boat in gear when in a lock.
  9. In 2001 after a long day from Taddebigge with the pair we could not resist the Tyburn House for a pint. Our plan was 2 pints then through to Curdworth. Left dogs in butty cabin but after 45 mins came back and motor cabin was ransacked. If travelling this way as a guide do not stop between Lea Marston (one above Dog & doublet) and Cuckoo Wharf or better still all way into Brum.
  10. Call into the Samual Barlow at Alvecote and ask them to if you can view the video. It might still be available and I'll check at opening time. Called 'The Importance of being Albert'
  11. Our Butties are Satley Built Australia Fazeley Northolt (Sunny Valley) and Longton. All currently at Alvecote waiting for orders. I think Union Rose (see seperate question) is also a Satley butty. Also motor boat Stafford (currently at Polish yard being rebuilt) was a Satley butty converted in 1938 and completely refooted at same time to a motor by Yarwoods. I was thinking of mating Union Rose stern end with Staffords fore end to recreat a butty for a change. But then again one of those things I never got round to!
  12. I guess the boats never really sunk. They just had a lot over water in them if the gunwhales were still above water!
  13. . My pound at Gendon was lapping the top of the coping at 2am friday before last. The canal overflowed into my dry dock but fortunatley we had finished the docking. It settled to normal on Monday.
  14. I have a cut down josher butty known as UNION ROSE. Its about 45' and has a enfield twin and goes stern end first. The conversion is clearly early sixties and might have been cut down for a hire boat at this time. I can remember it from Cowley in the 80's when it was owned by Sue who died during the 1986 storms. Its renovation is on my list of things to do but I suspect when I start I will only use the knees. Can anyone give a clue to its real identity.
