  1. We sold the boat over 10 years ago. The then owner died. Steve Priest put a new bottom on it. It was tied for many years on the Staffs and Worcs near the A41 Bridge
  2. I'll help you out. 10 quid to get the ball rolling. Anybody else as another 199,990 pounds needed
  3. Ipswich will be available shortly with Motor Gorse as are many Joshers at Narrowcraft the home of South Midland .
  4. Bison was on Benbow Way moorings where I think above pic was taken throughtout 70's 80's but a Wide Boat moved to moorings in the 90's.
  5. Don't need to go to court nowdays for pub licensing
  6. I bought a set of fenders last week from Fenderman at Apple Tree the lock above Cropredy. I took the button back today as not being fit for purpose ! He told me to bog off and said he did.not make them. Does anybody know Eric Johns who makes them in Wales ? They had a distinct shortage of solid stuffing material and were.mishaped.
  7. Having done my weeks bolerindering to the port I am now bored and reading correspondence. I have not read the whole thread so I apologise if I repeat. I have a 2 cylinder mono block BM with a gearbox. Speedwheel's picture did not come upbon my 'phone . John Hemlyrick told me what a pain they were as,he steered the Sabey's tug I think towing a train of day boats with rubbish from Paddington to Slough Arm tip. The cylinder by the engine ole doors would fool off so the other worked harder and cause it to overheat ! He spent a lot off time adjusting the cooling water to each cylinder. Oh and of course it is,for sale if anybody is feeling brave,!
  8. You must have passed them laid up at Cassio They left at 9 on Sunday morning for the days boating to Cowroast.
  9. I did the same thing returning north in 1989 with 2 pairs at Berko. There was wall to wall boats and the only tie up was in thd lock mouth .We had however cleared the 2 lockfuls by 10 past 8 and again never saw the following boats again ! For your info they are now in the thick of Tardebigge. Thumblines ! Going up hill. I do admit to experimenting when going downhill to open the top gates but due to the width above the lock it was not reliable enough to be of use .
  10. They are now approaching Kings Norton. Bet they did not hold anybody up and iI would not bet against the 2nd lock of boats the other morning were still tied up when they vacated to lock !
  11. My Mentor Ken Ward is also lying empty there with an engraving of Ferret on his headstone . Bless xx My Mentor Ken Ward is also lying empty there with an engraving of Ferret on his headstone . Bless xx
  12. He should stick to Motor Biking !!!!
  13. Obviously another ploy to slow the traffic down !!
  14. I do however admit to putting my 'coil' if not used full length on the step or coal box if ice on the water to keep line subtle
  15. Just re-posted Picking up Butty I use a lighter line as well as it gets heavy after a while.
  16. Plain sailing from Braunston. It was very sad to see Clent looking sorry for itself. I have some very fond memories of her and her Captain in 1998 ! We got to the top of Atherstone about 3.30 The Jag looking and sounding a bit better then last time here with the blown top joint. Only a small weep this time although Luce looks a bit the worse for wear. http://narrowboatsalesltd.co.uk/botather.mp4 Bloody good trip Thanks Luce ! Love You ! You can come boating with me anytime xx
  17. A very sore captain kicked off in the morning. And of course with rain I suspect waterways had opened a few drain off paddles as it took me 45 minutes in the rain to get off the mooring ! After that though progress was swift and were through Stoke by midday. Plain sailing now and on way down braunston I sent Luce in the Nelson for some beer. She came back and said She had booked a table as they stop servig at 8.30pm I had to send her back and cancel as how can we tie up in the light ! We tied up outside the dayboat at the Rose and Castle again in the pouring rain ! I was not going to have the same performance as this morning.
  18. Got a good start despite waterways filling up Apsley top pond and having to run water below Berko. Agter filling two pounds we managed to bounce through and progress was good to we were able to scrub the boat up a bit ! Made Leighton Lock before 5 pm so looking good for Milton Keynes. After Stoke Hammond it was time for a scrub off ( Me that is as boat already done). I have a tap on the water outlet which is fine for washing hands when in the engine 'ole. Not so fine for a man having a strip wash. The third bowlful was needed when i had no foorwear on and of course I slipped and rested my knee agains the silencer and my shoulder against the exhaust pipe ! I said oh dear as I back in the cabin watching the blisters appear. I got in trouble with Luce for not being dressed and ready for duty at Fenny Lock. I was however all set by Simpson but what a job getting in the side. The rain started as we tried to tie up and we managed to get the bows in just before the bridge above The Plough and walked back to the pub like drowned rats !!
  19. This one needed an early start as we had to make Watford in time to unload. With a crew of four it was easy riding and we got to Cassio Wharf where we said goodbye to young Michael. We were quickly unloaded with the usual super efficiency of Derek and John. It was here when we saw the 'friends' of Roger that we thought is was strange we were contracted when they could have bought Roger up to Alvecote and loaded the ballast there. We made it back up to Apsley for the night where we were fed in the Paper Mill.
  20. I am sure they were not on ebay last friday !!! Thank you I now have plenty and should anybody need any ! Thank you again Re machining, the shaft is 2 and 1/8 " and most lathes take 2 " hence the problem However we are rebushing the stern gland to 2 " and turning down the existing shaft to match Thank you all again
