  1. That is very helpful. Foulridge is mentioned as the limiting height but the height is different between the canals and river trust who quote 2.15m and the waterways site who quote 2.37m. Who do I believe? The boat that I am looking at is a steel dutch river boat which has a height of 2.37m . the other dimensions are ok , 11 metres long 3.9m wide and 0.7 metres draft. I will pay a visit to foulridge and find some local knowledge. I will not be going through there everday but it would be nice to know before hand if it is going to be possible. Thanks for your help

Hi there Justinstop - I reckon 2.37m is nearer the mark but you have to bear in mind that the water level in that top pound can vary quite a lot, and it's a bit of a joke quoting figures down to a centimeter.  It might be worth talking directly to CRT, I have heard of the pound level being dropped as a one off to get a boat through, but if you are likely to be using the route regularly that might not be practical.  The folks at Lower Park marina at Barnoldswick are a good source of local info.  Keep us informed!
