Our prop is a four bladed 21x18 originally from a sea going trawler. It only travels at 300rpm so have no idea if would sing or not at high speed. Reading about your dilemma, it's a new one on me. I had no idea this do at tbof problem occurred. Do aircraft have a similar problem I wonder?

The old style 2p's were a copper based alloy and so ideal. The newer ones are an iron based alloy and not so suitable. See if your 2p can't be picked up by a magnet to find a copper alloy one. All the current tails design ones are iron based. Only the older Welsh fleur de lys ones are copper. Newer ones are iron.

The ceiling is battened and the radius of the curved beech is smaller hence they are pressed up each end which tightens the centre upwards. One could fix the slats each end and cover the fixings with the side wall panelling.

It was an idea that I came across whilst looking for par steamed beech which is quite expensive. New bed slats are cheaper and are shaped in a curve. We require light coloured timber as only have porthole windows and much as I like oak, it's too dark. The slats are the same thickness and have rounded edges that create a chamfer look when together. It's machined ply so very precise

Anyone out there used sprung beech ply bed slats to line a narrowboat ceiling/ deckhead? Going to see if it works using 1500mm steamed beech oiled ply.

We'll, it all runs ok. Gotta wire in the starter battery alto next. Advice welcome. At 495 engine rpm the intermediate drive runs at 890rpm and the alternator pulley runs at 3065rpm. Tested all speeds with a cheapo Chinese digital tachometer.

and an air compressor. Don't know why, just fancy fitting one. The Ruston has a spare pulley running from the camshaft, used to drive the water pump.

I'll ignore Magnetman. Bet he's a Bah Humbug character. Of course the paint will come off, who cares. As for the bearings they are skh and will only be spinning at 1200rpm. They'll see me out. FYI there are two alternators. Both alternators are clockwise running and fans run in correct direction.

These pulleys will up the alto speeds to 6 times engine revs. Awaiting v belts to arrive. Made the adjustable pulley carriers to suit. What d'ya think?

There's nothing like using your ideas and creating something that works. Using the flywheel is a good idea but I'll stick to my plan to up the drive speed via pulleys. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and knowledge. I'll let you know how I get on?

That'll give an alternator speed of 5000rpm on tickover, a top speed of around 17000. No thanks. A larger pulley on alternator would reduce this but I'm not going that route. The belt length would be silly. I'll prob up the idler to 200mm, giving an alto speed of 4000 plus at cruising and a max of 7500
